Open chord chucking
« on: April 28, 2008, 01:42:53 am »
Hi Justin

Im a big fan of your lessons but have noticed there is none on open chord chucking. I can sort of chuck a barre chord (thanks to a Mr Taub!) but I have no idea of how to do it with open chords. Perhaps you could combine this with another song lesson - Im thinking some CCR, such as 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain?'

Are there going to be any more song lessons in general. Ive learnt a lot from them.

Keep up the good work!

I could explain my it myself, but this video does a better job i think, http://www.justinguitar.com/en/ST-507-SaveTonight.php (he starts to explain open chucking at about 5:20). I wouldn't recommend this song for a complete beginner, but is is a very cool rhythm to learn. You're right on about CCR songs, lots of open and "closed" chucking in those songs. Jack Johnson also uses chucking in almost every one of his songs. It will definitely make your strumming more interesting, Good luck and let us know how you make out!

Hope that helps.
