Hi Justin and team

Juno333 here, and I just had to pop a thanks on here.  As a bloke over 40, with no prior interest in playing music (2 failed violin lessons at primary school don't count!) I would never have believed that I could go from zero to where I am now (which is basically a beginner who can play the basic songs to a recognisable/bearable standard!) in just a couple of months.

More than that, I'm really enjoying it, despite now having leather fingertips, and actually look forward to the next lesson, song practice and those essential one-minute change drills.

Justin, you're a fantastic teacher who really made me believe it was possible to learn, without face to face lessons, right from the off.  Even at my age.  You're honest about the commitment and pain but 100% correct about the gains and leave me inspired and confident with each new lesson and skill I learn.

I found the trial of the app so awesome I paid for a full year's subscription (another motivator too!), and if I ever have the pleasure of meeting you I owe you a pint for all your hard work, dedication and the joy you bring to the learning.  So I hope you don't just drink shorts :)

Thanks again, and keep up the fantastic work.    Juno333

PS..my missus is not quite as grateful to you as I am.....yet!

Hello Justin and Team!

Ever since i knew how to put on a cassette or cd i was addicted to Music, round about when i was 6 years old. later with 13 my grandma gifted me a Takamine but we could never afford to pay me lessons. i played it somehow but got more interested in drawing and focused on that. my interest in Music and the addiction to it never stopped. with 20 i got a lot of friends which were playing or in a band. my interest got greater and a year later i fell in love with a vagabond Boy that was a street musician. i went with him on the streets and travelled Europe as his sidekick, learning what he taught me, which he taught himself.
we separated 2 years later and continued alone, teaching myself further through tab Websites and listening to Songs over and over again. sure i got my coins in the street, but it is not comparable to what it is now.
i stumbled over your Website and tho i knew chords and all Basics, i started from the very beginning once again with you! the way you explain and your humbleness and all the Little Details i was missing These years are worth more than gold!
now when i Play in the streets People give me bills from time to time and it is raining 2euro pieces which were 10 to 50 Cents before. not that i do it just for the Money, i also do other artistic stuff in the street, but the guitar is and will be my favourite, and with your help i can do that more often now!

so thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Keep going! I will save some coins for you until I can donate :D

LOVE AND HEALTH TO YOU AND TEAM!

Just wanted to say thanks for the great site. I felt compelled to order DVD's and your music theory book which also proved to be a great investment.

I’ve just registered and posted an introduction.

Massive thanks to Justin and all involved!

I’m sure that if this site had been around about 25 years ago when I first picked up the guitar I’d not have stopped playing and be a much better player that what I am now after starting to learn again after not playing for a good 20 years.

In today’s world I can’t believe that there is something that is as great a resource as this available for free. I will certainly be buying some of the products etc to keep the site going.

My name is Torben and comes from Denmark. I decided to learn guitar as I have always wanted but have not had time to do that.
I bought a good guitar (Larrivée OM-03) and started my trip on Jamplay. Then read that the right place to start as a beginner is on Guitar Tricks. I have been there for 8 months but they have never really caught me.

I heard about Justin on a big guitar forum where they warmly recommended him. I checked out the pages and thought the construction of the teaching just suited me.

I have now bought a handful of books in Justin's store and am looking forward to follow the various stages. Finally, I would like to thank Justin many times for the great work he puts in the pages and his good teaching.

Hi everyone,
I'm Franco from Milan (Italy),

I discovered Justin's lessons in the beginning of 2017 on youtube looking for the first song to play (that was Redemption Song by Bob Marley :)) as i had stolen an acoustic guitar from my singer (I'm a drummer tho)..

Right now I have my room full of guitar gear (2 amps and 2 old electric guitars, even a bass) and I am digging the blues lessons and growing lick by lick my "dictionary", but I would have done none of that without Justin's wonderful creation - because that's what it is - of the best source for music knowledge ever!

I've lately been inspired by the recommended books on music and the collections of albums on the site but on top of that what i really want to thank Justin for is the first-step mind blowing "practical music theory" book which introduced me to melody and harmony, expanding my way of listening and even thinking of music.

Justin, i hope you'll get through this two lines someday to let you know that you are being the guitar hero of someone, and for sure not just me.. thank you for sharing your spectacular music knowledge with everyone for free, this is not just kind of you, it is a service you are giving to music which no one will ever thank you enough for!

Justin - I've been using and following your site for many years now (I think since 2008!), I remember the old non-HD vids with Jedi in the background!

When I found your site I didn't have much money and could never afford lessons but I quickly realised that my 10 years or so of playing, and teaching myself, before landing on your site were not the best use of my time :-)

So I had to re-learn, technique being the main thing but so many things.  But I went on that journey with you.  After a short time, maybe a few weeks I started to read your site as well and what a honourable and totally genuine person you are!  I love that you care so much and highlighted things to me that I then went off to find out about.  Problems in Africa for example (used to be a small blog on your site) that are never reported here!

I went through a divorce, my daughter was 6 at the time and extremely hard for us all, but learning guitar was always something I could do myself when she wasn't with me to get me through.  I eventually bought her one so we could share the experience but it never really happened - that's ok she didn't want to, she was only doing it for me lol.

Anyway, I want to say a massive thank you for all that you do and all that you are.  I pass your website on to anyone I meet who plays guitar, or even works in music (as I tend to talk about you with these people).  There are other sites but your teaching method is second to none, and the fact you cover everything, even how to mute strings with the tips of your fingers etc.  These tips make all the difference, you can tell if someone is a good player when they apply these techniques.

I always said when I have money I'll donate.....now I have today, but you are worth so much more than I gave........but I know you'll appreciate it anyway.

Blessings!

Justin, my Justin,

Rock upon which I base everything I have ever done with a guitar.  Funny, honorable, hardworking, and a great guitarist.
I don't know how much I will.be back here. My life is strange at best.  But I just went to you for some bit of info I needed cuz I'm starting my engine again.  And I thought, I immediately thought, "God, I love that man."  And so I do.

XxxxxxxxxxX from L.A.

(Any crazy old timers snooping, hello to you too!")

Oh and do some Mika, J. Really, dude, they're great beginner songs.

Hey guys, been a fan of this site for a while now - Justin, thank you! You inspire me to pick up the guitar every time I feel my enthusiasm slipping.  Great song lessons, I have a 'practise list' on the go :)
Will defo send you a contribution as this site is better than some paid for sites I have used, plus my schedules are all over the place which makes booking lessons tricky.
BTW, if you ever, you know, want to add these songs to your lessons, that would be super cool ;)
The Pusher - Steppenwolf
Little Black Submarines - The Black Keys
Dust in the Wind - Kansas
Wayward Son - Kansas
Dream On - Aerosmith
Cheers!   8)

Thank you so much, you are incredible !  I am 56 and thought I was way to old to learn guitar.  Wow 5 mths in up to stage 4 and playing lots of songs !  I have purchased your song book, strumming lesson, and made a donation.  I hope others that can afford it do what they can.  Looking forward to all future lessons (well maybe not that F chord that you have warned me about).  Maybe once I get my chords a lot cleaner and the songs sounding good I will send in a video.  Anyway thanks again !

I decided to learn to play guitar last week! I stumbled across your website first, then the app and am loving it. I'm usually not good at sticking with new things, but your lessons have me already seeing progress and wanting to push on! Thank you so much!!

Picked up my guitars after a (too) long layoff, and found your site (wasn't here when I first learned!) Thought I would whistle through the beginners course as a refresher and I was struck by your demeanor. You seem very real ("Don't learn scales if you don't know what they're for"), and you still know where people get stuck. There's no guitar snobbishness with you, is there? You are a born teacher. Thanks, Justin.

Anyway, made a small donation, I plan on doing so again as I work back up to where I was, and hopefully further.

Hi Justin,

Just stop by to thank you so much for this amazing website!

Bought a guitar for the first time a week ago and as I'm a huge Metallica fan and have the goal to play some songs myself in the future, your website is an absolute gift to learn all the steps from 0 to wherever someone dreamed about to achieve.

So a long road ahead for me of the learning curve, but when a friend of mine told me about your website I was absolutely suprised and glad to find such a complete website for learning to play the guitar!

Keep up the good work and thank you very much for all the great stuff!

Cheers!

Hi there, I am from Zimbabwe (live in the UK) and I am an elderly learner (I think it is more challenging to learn at a later stage in life when you have so many other commitments), I have scoured the internet for advice, tutorials, etc. in order to learn guitar and think Justin is the best. My approach was always very lazy until my son said to me "Why don't you give up? You'll never learn to play" I said to him "It is on!" so we had a bet that by Xmas 2017 I must play 5 songs. This was at the beginning of the year, but unfortunately for me I had a really difficult industry exam to study for and in September I thankfully passed and turned my attention to guitar. So, I had three months to learn 5 songs. I paid for the phone app and started practising every day until my fingers were too sore to play, I have just completed the app but I am concentrating on the chord changes and getting them to 60 per minute. I was disappointed that the app never included the F chord in the one minute changes or the beat exercises :( Also it would be amazing if you could create your own group of chords to add to the one minute (or more?) changes. My focus this month is getting up to 60 changes on all chords and perfecting F which is going well (only one string buzzing). The song section in the phone app is awesome and really helps to get those chord changes down. I have no doubt that 5 songs by Xmas will be easy peasy and while it doesn't sound great yet, hard work and Justin's superb teaching will sort that out. It is amazing how much free stuff Justin makes available and I will be sure to spend a lot of money here in the future because he is worth it! Thank you Justin and wish me luck  ;)

Hello, i'm Franck, i always wanted to play the guitar for pretty much all of my life but there was always an excuse not to do it, i've procrastinated all my life on this project, now i'm 48 and i've decided that it was enough and that i will play guitar.
i love guitars so much and what feelings they bring me when i hear poeple playing them.
i'm on my 3rd day and already noticing progress with Justin's teaching, thank you so much for having me interested and giving me tricks that are really easy and rewards me.
