Sire R3 outboard pre-amp
« on: June 06, 2021, 09:19:17 pm »
The Sire R3 electro acoustic as an external preamp which uses a stereo cable between guitar and preamp, a standard cable runs to the amp.
My Cube Street amp suddenly stopped working for my Sire R3 outboard preamp.
I’ve tried -
Changing all the cables
Replacing the battery in the preamp
Changing to a Vox clean headphone amp
Trying the clean instrument channel as well as the normal input
Checking all volume levels

Aux in still works
When plugging in cables usual pops and noises.

Any ideas what else to check?

TIA

But it stops after 10 minutes. Off to Andertons tomorrow

Andertons were first class. Dropped my guitar in and they tested it right away. I was called over after about 5 minutes to explain the issue, as I arrived it duly stopped working. The team immediately got on the phone and they had a replacement on the next van from the warehouse. Time for a coffee and sandwich (one of the assistants recommended a great coffee shop) before heading off home.
As it turns out I suspect a problem has been there for a while (I just didn’t know it) as there is a marked improvement in the sound from the amp.
