Paranoid cover
« on: May 01, 2021, 08:27:15 pm »
Finally got round to recording myself play Paranoid by the mighty Black Sabbath. One of my favourite tracks and one of the first songs I learnt to play all the way through. The lead is a bit iffy but I am only really just learning lead. Comments and pointers appreciated

Wow, oh yes, that was great, Ross.

Love that song, never fails to get my headbanging. Thought your play ... rhythm, tone, and lead ... sounded great. Got the vibe and energy.

Ross

Yep that's a great cover. Good tone and you've captured the essence of the original in all the right places. Solo sounded good as well despite what you say but its not easy if your just starting in that area, so good to make it your own rather than try and copy note for note. I am sure that will come in time.

I always shy away from the song as I struggle with the lead but its been a while, so your adventure just might get me to revisit.

Cheers

Toby

Thanks for the feedback guys... much appreciated. I love learning new songs and usually pick up the chords parts quite easily. I find it so hard to learn solos though, and when you listen to the band live a lot of the time the solo is at least slightly different to the record, I sort of start learning it so I know where each part is played on the fretboard, then improvise on the minor pentatonic scale. Artistic license?

That's a rocking good tune, great playing on it. I had learned a couple of the riffs from that song some time ago but never the whole song, you've reminded me what a great rocker it is. Another song for my never ending to learn list now!

Great cover Ross, loved the energy and rhythm. Solo sounded great too! As you say, a lot of the time solos are evolving things, if it sounds good it is good! And yours definitely sounded good  8)

Didn't get to see them until 2014 in Hyde Park.  Probably one of the best gigs I've been to

That was terrific Ross, you really caught the Sabbath tones there. Really well done.

Man, that was rocking! I've no useful tips whatsoever (too new to all this) but that felt right to my ears. Makes me look forward to learning this kind of thing, sounds like a lot of fun to play. Keep it up, man!
