I'm tabbing a song in a tuning of E A C# E A E.  When I open the tuning window I end up with this:

What are the numbers after the notes? and how do I get rid of them?

What are the numbers after the notes? and how do I get rid of them?

The numbers after the notes say which octave they are in. This is a standard way of describing notes, known as Scientific Pitch Notation. Without it, you wouldn't know which octave the string was tuned to.

For instance, middle C is "C4".

You can't get rid of them, they are there for a good reason.
