Bends & Timing
« on: February 07, 2021, 09:37:49 am »
I'm not sure if this is a tip or common sense.  Anyway it wasnt obvious to me.

I've probably spent an hour this week over several days trying to learn a lick across two bars that has several bends. The second bar is tricky in that it has a bend in a tripplet requring  a big old finger stretch for a final bend.

Initially I was practicing with the bends & it never sounded right, I was always rushing the last bend. I tried counting to get the rhythm right but I really struggled with it because the bend in the tripplet really seemed to throw off the count concentration.

Yesterday I just played the bar through without the bend for 10 minutes until the rhythm was second nature.  Then I added the bends and hey presto it all worked pretty much first time.

So yeah, if its tricky get a feel for the rhythm and then chuck the fancy stuff in :)
