Ex-Calif's Road Case
« on: January 19, 2021, 07:19:04 pm »
Been around here about a month and thanks to JustMe123456 I figured out that this forum wasn't for bragging about your pedal board, amp, Guitar and the VW microbus you use to haul it to gigs...

So most of you all have seen my shenanigan's around here already so rather than type 1,000 words no one wants to read I'd do a quick video road case intro that no one wants to watch.

I screwed the video up a couple times so there are a couple of clarifications

1/ My "quick" 5-minute video came out to 11 minutes.  I would fix it up in post production but I am supremely lazy.
2/ To finish the Dunvegan story. Mum was Macleod so on a business trip to Prestwick I flew up the hill over the weekend to visit the "family" castle.  Entered my name in the "family" guest book and only came back with a watch cap.  I guess technically I am like 100 millionth in line to inherit the family castle. With Covid who knows... Could happen...
3/ The amp is (of course) a Mustang 1 v2 - Doh...
4/ The photo of me shaved head was meant to point out that I haven't cut my hair since Feb 2020. I call it civil disobedience in protest of Covid.  My wife says it's further proof that I am 60 going on 17... She promises to hold me down and shave my head whenever she gets unlocked... I told her she better hurry.  She is 39 and when she turns 40 I get to trade her in for 2 twenties...

To my future Blues playing self. Aren't you glad you harnessed the force and learned to play like our master Obi-wan Ke-lapton?

Cool Introduction.

Im up for a trip to Colombia once you get your condo.  You will able to turn your amp upto 11 and not disturb the neighbours!

Tru dat RFW...

I'm gonna post some more video in a minute for my future self. But first...

My beginner exuberant strumming has caused my E string to hang up on a fret overhang.  As dad used to tell me, "God hates a coward so I took a file to my frets...

This is a post for future Dan - The first little clip is funny.  I was setting my gear up and had literally not played today so was trying to get my brain in guitar mode by playing around a little.  I hadn't decided if I was gonna show every one my "Sunshine" riff, my blues shuffle or my "Angie" today.

What I didn't know was I turned on the video and captured the exact moment I started playing today.  I call it - "Backstage Pass" - I am sure many beginner's pick up the guitar and say, "Well this is gonna be a bad day. My fingers are not under my command..."

I've said with me you get the good the bad and the ugly.  This fits at least two of those categories.

Well - future Dan this is what "warm ups" looked like - LOL...

What today's video was supposed to be was a tribute to the Justin Guitar app and how this iPad tool has transformed how guitar learning works. After learning three chords you get to wail along with backing tracks.

For anyone who watches this I call it speed dating.  I just let the playlist roll over and then try to catch up with the song and figure out what I am supposed to be playing, Muck around with different strumming and just have fun.

Speed dating allows me to blow through a lot of songs and decide which ones I might want to learn in detail. These are all AED songs and I feel like I am cheating on C, G, F and the minors.  I do have some songs in the list that I need to use to practice chord changes and who knows a couple might rise to the "Might want to have a second date with this one" category.

As usual I have verbal diarrhea so be forewarned its like 15 minutes - maybe play it at 1.5 speed to put you out of your misery if you happen to click in...
