Guitar TAB tool
« on: September 16, 2020, 09:06:57 am »
I'm looking for a template (PDF) or a tool for making own TABs (like the one in Esson 2:PETER GUNN THEME) for practicing.
Thank you.

The best tool around is Guitar Pro which is a commercial application for Mac or Windows.

https://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php

There is also TuxGuitar which is free and also very good.

You could also look at LilyPond. It's text/markup-based (although there are some third-party GUI front ends you can use with it) and mostly oriented at creating standard notation scores, but it does guitar tab and chord charts, too, and outputs to PDF/PostScript/etc.

TuxGuitar is very good, it can load Guitar Pro files.
Maybe not as pretty as GP but a great alternative :)

Wasn't there some discount vouchers for Guitar Pro?

TuxGuitar and LilyPond also work natively on Linux. Guitar Pro 7 can run on Linux with Wine (which is how I use it).

TuxGuitar can also output LilyPond files, which is an interesting capability.

I think the discounts on GP7 have all been used.

Cheers,

Keith
