Guitar pro app is it worth it?
« on: May 07, 2020, 10:19:04 am »
Hi, I don’t have access to a laptop, so is the guitar pro app on iOS worth it to assist in me transcribing licks. That is, can it loop and slow down passages in the tracks?
Thanks
Jason

Give it a whirl, it’s free for a weeks trial.

Oh just noticed you may not be talking about Justin’s app, if so I have no idea.

I have the app.  You can slow passages. There is a slider at the top right that allows you to adjust tempo. You can mute tracks or play them solo. You can highlight and loop sections. You can also adjust the pitch by semitones with the transposition function.

I’m interested in this too. Is it practical to use it on a smart phone or would everything be a bit small?

It's a bit small on a phone IMO. I have it on a tablet and it's OK on that.

OK, but not great IMO, but it's relatively cheap.

the full version on a PC is great and definitely worth the money.

Cheers,

Keith

I haven't tried it on a phone.  I use it on a large ipad.
You could try the songsterr website in the browser on your phone. Songsterr uses guitar pro files and has a very similar look.  Without a songsterr subscription, however,  you will not be able to use the mute,  tempo control, loop or any of the other features.  But it should give you some idea with the GP app would be worthwhile.

I have used it in the past on P.C. It's o.k. No idea how it would work or look on a phone.

What Keith said... I am paying for the pro and I don't even have full need for it yet. It has been useful to run the backing tracks for a song I want to nail for my 1 year anniversary.
