Guitar Pro 7 - where can I find tutorials / user guide / help?
« on: February 07, 2020, 04:59:42 pm »
Hi,
Could anybody please direct me to lessons/instruction on how to use Guitar Pro with Justin's videos.

Or perhaps most importantly ? Where on Justin's site can I find any tuition on using Guitar Pro.

As Justin actively promotes this software, I have purchased it but find any Justin tuition on it remarkably lacking. I confess I am not aware on how to correctly search for these answers as I'm an old "git".  :)

I know there are various sites "out there" offering guidance,,,but I would prefer Justin's excellent simplistic instruction.

Or especially, one of you many users already on this forum who are equally proficient at it's basic use.

Many thanks.

Cheers Steve.

Justin hasn't done any lessons on using Guitar Pro AFAIK.

The documentation that comes with it (at least with GP6) is woeful. Diving in and having a play around is what I did, but it helps if you know a little music theory.

I haven't looked at this version but found forum at Ultimate Guitar was a good place for info about GP5. If you ask on the forum there just make it clear you need clear instruction/guidance, I've found forum members helpful there also.

Do you intend to use it for writing your own tab? Importing ready-made tab and learning / playing along?

Here is a downloadable user guide:

Better than GP6, but hardly comprehensive.  It appears, I haven't read it all, to tell you how GP works not how to actually use it IYSWIM :)

Hi,
Many thanks to all my replies. I am very grateful.

It seems that at this stage in my learning curve i.e Beginner....!

Then I may have wasted my money. I am clueless to music notation, I can work tabs.

I cannot transcribe.

I thought it would help me follow songs and slow them down etc..easily loop sections to follow etc.

also I am using a Fender Mustang V.2 and I have been told that I will be able to

download and load in preset amp selections for specific songs. This is cool.. but I cannot find detailed help.

I would like to play a song, and remove instruments etc. add/subtract drums. Also be able to hear voices singing...

I value all your assistance and will look at the links you have kindly provided.

Cheers Steve.

Apologies for any confusion..thanks a mill.

P.S. I will update and let you know if I have made a massive error of judgement..Only Justin seems to think it is the way forward.

You can slow down songs, loop them, etc. with GP7. However you need songs that have been transcribed into Guitar Pro format. You can't do it with just any old music track.

Having said that, there's loads of GP format songs available including from many of the Tab websites. They aren't always that good or accurate, but many are quite good. You should be able to find GP format tabs for most popular songs.

Cheers,

Keith

Check this site.
Find a song you like and download it.
Open it in GP7.
Tell us if you need help at that point - with the song you chose.
We could walk you through it.

Hi all and close 2U.

When you say "check this site" do you mean check the forum.?
I cannot find and GP7 songs to download.

Thanks a million to all you lovely people.
I really do think I am out of my depth.

I just wanted to be able to see and play along with songs/ find the keys/ transpose/
slow down/ break down to see notes chords and melodies etc.

I think i have taken the running steps before walking.

Cheers to you all.

Kindest regards.
