appreciate the feedback everyone, much appreciated.

@jwtiger - no user found with that username on the website.

Interesting?   Having trouble looking this up on my phone.  I might be tigerjohnson?

@ Keith
You can link Justin's lessons and videos right to the practice routine so I can't
see why you couldn't link bass lesson to the routine as well.
It's well thought out and easy to use. You can make each routine as clean or complicated
as you want.

@Stitch101 thanks for the reply.

If there's any spaces left in the soft launch, I would love to give it a go. Username is "Majik" on website as well as here.

I might be nipping down to Ochanomizu to have a look at the second hand stores later today!

Cheers,

Keith

Also have to figure a way to recoup the expense of making it... I'm not keen on paywall things, but it was a pretty big (and expensive) undertaking... do you think asking for a small annual payment would be fair for somethign like this - just like $20 a year or something like that... what think the people?

That seems like a reasonable rate for a tool like this. Of course, you do have to consider (as I'm sure you've experienced with the apps) that once people are paying for something they're going to expect certain levels of quality and feature improvement.

Speaking of the apps, are they still developed by a separate team than the website? There are lots of tools out there that allow development to be sync'd between apps and a web framework. That way you're not paying twice to develop the same functionality in an app and on the website. I work in the development world and we are in the middle of sorting this out ourselves.

Just spent some time putting in more practice items. One thing that would be nice is a way to copy an existing practice item (I'm picturing a copy button right there with the edit and delete icons). For example, I created separate practice items for each of the OMC pairings I'm working on. It would be nice to be able to copy an existing OMC item and only need to change the target chords.

This could also apply to things like strumming patterns, chord practice (strum, pick, strum), and a few others.

Ok, Love the new practice area, really easy to use.

Feedback as requested.

I would like to have the 'option' to add the Beginners course items BY STAGE (9 Routines to match the course book)as a default routine with all the items that can be done.
IE: Strum ,pick, strum - 1 Min Chord changes - Chord progression changes Etc.. from beginners course book.

This would be fantastic I think.

I agree with this. All the lesson practice routines, video lesson links, lesson reference numbers etc already exist in the hard copy course books, BC, IM etc.  I’ve spent some time creating routines in the new practice area and have realised I’m just repeating what I already have in my course books. (Which are also full of my notes!).
If the new system could be automatically populated it would be easy to delete what was not required and you could then fine tune to your individual requirements.
Justin has already created excellent practice routines.

tigerjohnson - found you - you're in!

Yes there will be pre-loaded routines to grab for the courses - I'm about to do the 2020 beginnercourse now actually - next on my todo list.

You'll just grab them from a practice tab on a lesson page and can add to current routine or replace.

I just did one now so you can see the potential - those with access can click this link and then the practice tab and add it to your routine.

The beginner course will have all items for the course with the practice lesson :) with all the items for that lessons practice. I used it myself the last 7 weeks while learning left handed (using my own course!) and it really works great! All this going to be revealed just before Christmas! :)

Brilliant! I’ve just tried this and the finger gym lesson appeared in my routine. That’s what we need. No point in everyone reinventing the wheel when Justin’s excellent content is available. Thanks Justin.

Pre-loaded routines are great! It took just 1 click to add the finger gym to my practice items. Lessons on songs could be practice items too, and in addition to all the work invested in this so far I can see how it would be a ton of more work to update everything if that's in the plan.

Hey Justin,

A little more feedback after a round of practice.

It would be nice to be able to add notes after the exercise is over (i.e. after the timer expires). I sometimes like to note things like how well did the exercise go which is not exactly a stat per se, but would still be useful to know. For example, I finished the basic finger workout at the first fret tonight and would like to drop myself a little reminder that next time I should move on to starting at the 7th fret and skip a fret between my index and middle fingers.

In addition to the 1/4 note, 1/8 note, 1/16 note subdivisions on the metronome, it would be great to have a triplet option (especially for those of us still working on our shuffle strumming ;-).

It might also be nice to have a way to shorten the duration of an exercise during the practice. For example, there are nights when I have to shorten some of my 5 minute exercises to 3 minutes to make the practice fit in the time I have for that given night. I'd really rather not have a bunch of routines that are just permutations of different amounts of time for the different exercises (Routine A: 5 min chord practice, 3 min finger workout, 5 min air changes; Routine B: 3 min chord practice, 5 min finger workout, 5 min air changes, etc).

Please take this all as just genuine feedback. All of these things are "nice to have" type of ideas. The tool is very good as it is and it will be a great companion to the beginner course.

Hey y'all.

So I decided to keep it free and just be a bit up front asking for donations!

It's public right now :)

@Fetch

Yes, notes at the end is actually very useful... will chat with Dev about that right now.

Yes, also triplets is on the todo!

Shortening in a routine is very hard - we explored some options but not found a satisfactory way to do it yet! But will come at some point!

Appreciate the feedback everyone - thank you! :)

And it's awesome, thanks Justin. I just did a $25 Cdn donation, value definitely received. Now the most important part, user implementation - me practicing!! :)

Thank you Greg and Mari :)

Hope you like it. I've gotta just get the new beginner course finished and I'm going to try and get routines done for all the main modules - even the old beginner course!
