2019 Cover #37 (I Wanna Go Home)
« on: October 22, 2019, 05:18:13 pm »
Cover project continues with this song from swedish band Sator. They were really big in Sweden in the early 90's playing some kind of indierock/punkrock. They are still active, at least some parts of the group, but not attracting big crowds anymore.

This is arguably their biggest hit. Very simple song based on G-C-D and Em.

Only 15 songs to go now. Some christmas songs may turn up very soon....

Johan,

I never heard of the band before but I thoroughly enjoyed this song. Simple cords but nice melody works well. Strong vocals on this one I thought coupled with the the solid strumming makes for a very nice performance.

Just looking so relaxed, sounding good, Johan.

Showing the rewards of discipline and dedication.

As you approach the end of this mission, perhaps interesting to go back and do some of tge early songs again...see how things have moved?

Well done.

Very simple song based on G-C-D and Em.

Very mellow Johan, but perhaps a tad more than just a couple of simple chords?
Nice bit of picking the beginning- and what's that chord that you're alternating with G between 2.30 and 2.55? I know it's probably obvious to the others, but hey- I'm here to learn as well as enjoy  ;)
Also the fancy little outro sequence...

Thanks hilts, David, Richard and Brian. I like this one as well, suits my playing abilities and vocal range well. Quite easy song to sing.

Hilts: I think I will need 1-2 months into 2020 to finish this project. I'm a little bit behind schedule. Not sure how to celebrate when I'm finished, but maybe buying myself some new gear  8) I'm thinking guitar (electric) and maybe some better recording equipment.

Brian: Its a variation of the C chord, a Cadd9. If you play the four fingered G (which I do almost all the time), its very simple to change to Cadd9. Just move index and middle finger down one string. The Cadd9 is used in every Oasis song ever made, so I know the chord well  :)

David: When I'm finished with the project, I plan to work deeper with some of the songs. Gonna pick out a few songs and start working on a small repertoire.

Nice use of the Wonderwall chords outside of the dreaded Wonderwall song! This is something I do a fair amount of as well because the chords are pleasing to the ear, tie together well and are easy to play. I'm not familiar with this particular song but I liked the progression. Good job!

Sounds great! I've never heard this before but you do it well. I think I have the same guitar - beautiful full sound.

Thanks CT and Thirdtimelucky. Sator is not well known outside Sweden so I understand you never heard this song before.

Thirdtimelucky: Cool we have the same guitar, its a great instrument. And welcome to the forum, don't think I have seen you here before.
