Deep Purple - Strange kind of woman
« on: May 16, 2019, 02:40:19 pm »
Hi all

This was my song on the side whilst learning "The boys are back in town", however it proved to be far more difficult than I first thought.

It is now at the stage I can play it through and will make a few errors in different places with each performance, now it just needs a number of repeats and should be OK but the speed is 90% of the original. The intro is still far too fast for me so I have left it out for now.

The solo is there but not particularly good, I am not sure what pedals to use to get the correct sound.

Played along to a backing track from guitarbackingtracks.com, the backing track has vocals, drums and bass.

Strange kind of woman on the side?  ;)

Love me a bit of Deep Purple and this was good.
You have a cool 70's dirty guitar sound going on there and the solo was something I would like to aspire to one day!
I thought the guitar sound got a bit lost between 1.35 and 2.00 and the ending was a bit abrupt, but overall well done.

Doing well with this one, Jono, good rhythm and tones. Lead was fun to listen to as well.

Thanks guys, I am sure I need to add a pedal to the solo but don't know what.
@ Brian - I think the song is guitar free between those times, oddly I can't remember now.
The ending is a bit abrupt, the guitar keeps repeating after I pushed the stop button, I was feeling lazy.

This song is so cool.
Great job on that ! good idea to reduce the tempo first ! Blackmore was a real genius (even though I don't like the man attitude). Great job. You'll have it perfect pretty soon  ;)

Sounding good Jono. Your tone seems to fit right in. That other 10% will come with a little practice, so keep at it.  And make sure you post it when you get there.  Nice job.

Love the attitude Jono, you've captured it. Yeah sure some of your guitar is out of sync and behind the beat, but practise will sort that one. Can't make any suggestions re pedals, I'm an acoustic gal.

Nice job Jono.... a toe tapper on this end! Not sure on pedals and tone... You have Kasper and Mike in here to you might ask them as both could lend a hand on this one...

Rock on!

Enjoyed this Jono - very nicely played, can’t add anything that hasn’t already been said, just keep it going, that last few % will be hard, but you’ll get there - nice one  ;D

One of the first singles I bought from the local market. Great song and very well played.
