Oh yeah yeah yeah  ;D

Good luck with it Max.

Why have I been hearing or seeing too much of these math and music relations lately?

If anyone is interested in the structure of the the instrumental:
It's centered about the initial melody. The bass is the same melody but stretched in time and a little bit altered at the end. The first 'responses' are retrogrades of the melody and later on its just a part of the retrograde that is frequently used. The ending is an inversion of the melody.

@David: Thanks! :) I started listening to some electronic music last year so I started to like playing around with digital synthesizers :)

@batwoman: The link should work now :)

Thanks Max. Of special interest to me right now as I'm putting a MIDI thing together in Reaper. I learned a lot from this. You are a shining star.

Another week gone by :)

Last week (7th of March) I played again at the open stage. It went well, some other musicians joined spontaneously (Cajon for most of the songs and guitar for Dancing in the dark) :) I wasn't used to have a percussionist so the tempo was a bit too fast, but it was okay for a live performance :)

Setlist:
Denial Twist (White Stripes)
Dreh Dich Nicht Um (Gisbert Zu Knyphausen)
Dancing In The Dark (Springsteen)
Don't Think Twice It's Alright (Dylan)
Flake (Jack Johnson)
Meine Kneipe (Von Wegen Lisbeth)

Some time ago I was messing around with a sample, I worked out the notes played in the sample and doubled them with my guitar:

Doesn't time just fly by, Max.

Three cheers on another performance.

I'm sure it was better than OK :)  And you sure do look the part.

I tried project19 ... not my thing.

Thanks for the update.

Hey there, time for a short update :)

I've managed to play at the pub's open stage every other week and I'm having a great time there :)
This evening it's my last opportunity to test some songs, because my first "gig" is on Saturday :)
The location is an old gas station that was renovated and turned into a venue for music/events etc. and I'll be playing in the afternoon for ~45 minutes :) [The next one is at the same location on 6th of July]

I've mentioned it in my AVOYP section that I've started memorizing songs I like to play and here's the current list of songs I can play from memory:

Avett Brothers - Ballad of Love and Hate
Ben Howard - I Forget Where We Were
Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice it's Alright
Bob Dylan - Shelter from the Storm
Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark
Daniel Johnston - True Love Will Find You in the End
Damien Rice - 9 Crimes
Damien Rice - Older Chests
Gisbert zu Knyphausen - Dreh Dich Nicht Um
Granada - Wien wort auf di (Billy Joel - Vienna)
Gregory A. Isakov - Trapeze Swinger (original by Iron & Wine)
Jack Johnson - Better Together
Jack Johnson - Flake
Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man
Nino aus Wien - Es Geht Immer Um's Vollenden
Nino aus Wien - Praterlied
Oasis - Wonderwall
Sophie Hunger - Spaghetti mit Spinat
Tom Rosenthal - Go Solo
Von Wegen Lisbeth - Meine Kneipe
White Stripes - Denial Twist

TODO / working on:
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
Killers - Mr. Brightside

(Not all of them are songs I'd choose for playing at the pub)
The "TODO-List" is influenced by requests (especially from English guests^^) at the open stage :)

happy little sidenote: I got my Bachelor's degree in mathematics :)

Best of luck with that first gig Max. An impressive "set list" you have there, plenty to choose from for that 45 min slot. Go rock 'em.  8)

Congrats on the song list Max.
Keep them in rotation as you add new songs and they should stay in your memory for many years to come.

Congrats on the degree (from a fellow mathematician!).

Fabulous update, Max, delighted to hear of the progress.  Sure you will delight the audience at your gig.

And if we are lucky, maybe a mate will record some video of you performing, so we can get some sense of it.

Lastly, congrats on the degree.  What comes next?

That's an awesome list to keep in the ol' memory banks, Max!

Congratulations on continuing the performing and stepping up to your very own gig  8)
Also congrats on the academia front; you must feel like lots of things clicking into place.

TODO / working on:
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
Killers - Mr. Brightside

(Not all of them are songs I'd choose for playing at the pub)
The "TODO-List" is influenced by requests (especially from English guests^^) at the open stage :)
I would personally ignore requests from English guests in an Irish pub ;)

CONGRATULATIONS Max on attaining your degree in Math! What are you plans now?

More loud clapping, hootin' and hollerin' over your set list and your gigs. OK, I'll open a bottle of champagne as well.

I wish you every joy, deep satisfaction and a big buzz (not bad electricals) as to open your next chapter.

Way to go!
