Piet Botha

https://www.jacarandafm.com/news/news/listen-afrikaans-rock-legend-piet-botha-remembered/

I first saw him performing with Jack Hammer when doing National Service and had been keeping an eye out to take my son to see him when he next performed in Johannesburg.

Listened to his solo albums earlier this week.

Well damn, there's a name I hadn't expected to see on this forum, and one I'd hoped not to see in this type of thread quite so soon  :'(

Rus in vrede, Piet.

Also, sad but appropriate choice of song David.

That's the truth, Dan, and I hadn't expected anybody to know him in this Community.

Brendan Grace - a great Irish comedian. In my teens I worked in a hotel and he would play gigs there -sometimes he was so funny I had to walk out of the room. Maybe his comedy has aged - but at the time he was one of funniest guys alive. He played Father Stack in Father Ted and he had several memorable quotes - probably the most famous was ' "I've had my fun, and that's all that matters".

RIP Johnny Clegg 66

https://m.channel24.co.za/Music/News/confirmed-south-african-music-legend-johnny-clegg-66-dies-20190716

Beat me to posting this, Hilts. First concert I went to was to see him with Juluka in 1983 in Jameson Hall on the campus of UCT

Follows closely on loss of Piet Botha.

RIP  The White Zulu
