Fallin' (Original Song)
« on: December 06, 2018, 12:49:44 am »
My partner Mari (aka embishop) asked me to join the Forum so we could do a Christmas collaboration. She then suggested I post this original song - it's inspired by the crappy health year this has been for her. She added the short solo for me.

Well since the song is about me I'm probably biased, but I do have a couple comments :)

First - great song! (ok yes I'm biased lol)

But really, for me it's a very moving and powerful song, and ultimately uplifting. The lyrics are creative, the strumming is solid, and the vocals are great.  Music is a real gift especially when times are rough, so thank you for sharing.

The lyrics are pretty clear in Krista's singing, but for those like me who like to see them anyway here they are:

Fallin'
Life can throw you curves
And it can take away your nerve
It can leave you hanging from the corner of your world

It’ll take you fallin’, fallin’ to your knees
And you’ll go fallin’, and screamin’ an empty please
And when the tears are secrets lost
And when your hopes are all you’ve got
You’ll go fallin’, fallin’ to your knees

When you’re drowning in your tears
And all your strengths become your fears
Feels like you’re melting in a pool of your own years

And you’ll go fallin’, fallin’ to your knees
Yeah you’ll be fallin’ and screamin’ an empty please
And when the tears are secrets lost
And when your hopes are all you’ve got
You’ll go fallin’, fallin’ to your knees

And when you’re lying in the dark, the only hand you touch is yours,
Because you can’t endure they see, that you are falling, they see you falling

Yeah life can throw you curves
So random and absurd
You gotta find the strength that keeps you moving through your world
And when the tears are secrets lost
And when your hopes are all you’ve got
You’ll go fallin, fallin to your knees

So when the tears are secrets lost
And when your hopes are all you’ve got
You’ve gotta find the strength that keeps you moving through your world
And you’re gonna stop fallin, no more fallin

Brilliant songwriting, guitar playing and singing! How come the two of you aren't a band already?! Or are you?! Amazing stuff! :)

Welcome to JustinGuitar Krista.

What a fabulous debut ... OK, solo debut, since one of my favourite, inspirational JG AVOYP moments was the video of you and Mari performing Nobody Knows You.

This is a beautiful song.  Fabulous singing, the tone and dynamics.  Guitar playing that was just right as accompaniment and a great solo (thanks Mari).

I hope this is not a one-off just for the contest.  I'd love to hear more from you and you and Mari together.

For now, I shall just look forward to the Contest entry.

Oh my word, what a lovely soulful song; really enjoyed it!
You have a lovely voice, and the song was very well thought out - for me the lyrics are quite poignant and very fitting to my own life at the moment.
Looking for to your Christmas entry!
My singing sucks so I’m learning Guitar and Ukulele, it’s fun 🌟

Now that's how to make an entry! Welcome to the party. :)

If that is a snippet of your songwriting capabilities you have a real talent for it.

Fancy writing my first Number One? ;D

Wowsers! That was really nice. Words and vocals where off the charts. It might just be my headphones but the guitar was a little boomy, mostly just a nit. Really great song!

Welcome and hope you stick around!

Nice original and vocals. Play is nice as well. Just a soothing nice job all around.

As I listen it strikes me you have nice vocal control! So keep it up and keep rocking.

Hi Krista, what a lovely song, right from the heart. I love your use of words, especially “it can leave you hanging from the corner of your world” that’s such a cool line. A well structured song with a melody and vocals to match the subject matter. Mari’s lead guitar was ace, fancied a bit more of that TBH. Nice one....do some more please.
