New forum lay-out
« on: October 16, 2018, 01:57:07 pm »
Hi guys,

To be in line with the graphical style of the new website, we changed the forum theme accordingly.
The new theme is called JustinGuitar v4.

For those having difficulties adapting or when nostalgia strikes; you can always change back to Justinguitar v2 ;) - indeed, there is no v3
Profile-> modify profile -> look & layout > first item: "current theme"

Thanks Lieven.

Glad I saw this thread, as I was about to reboot the PC, as I though I'd had a dodgy graphics card.

Blue and Black is cool. And perfectly good sense to mirror the main JG site.

Cheers

Toby

@ Lieven

Comment from one member that I got before you posted this thread was frustration that the typing pane for comments is limited in size. It used to be that you could expand it by grabbing the bottom centre where there is a little 3-line icon that turns in to a double-headed up/down arrow. But the arrow doesn't grab and resize the pane. So long posts become a nuisance to type and involve extra scrolling.

Is there an easy fix in your box of tricks?

I second this present shortfall in the message and forum posting areas. While the new look is much appreciated this window size posting issue sure could use some love. i.e. - increase size a bit or make it resizeable. Typing longer posts now is a near joke in the present setup. I normally do that post in an external editor, then cut and paste it back to the message/forum editor. This is cumbersome and tends to shorten posts as it is just too much hassle.

Thanks,
LB

I can't resize it with the icon in the bottom centre, but it works with the one in the bottom right corner - hope this helps some of you in the meantime!

Really like the new look :)

Gee
Hate to say the problem was between the seat and the keyboard, but it was!
Thanks ever so much Max. With my eyes I could not even see that little deal in the right, bottom corner! Good thing you pointed it out.

I guess both Close and I learned something today! Hope it Helps others!

resize doesn't work for me no matter where I try to grab it … I see a double-headed arrow but it has no effect

Close - it is very small in the lower right corner wire-frame box we type in! I can barely see it....
Don't just pull down.... pull to the right a bit too. Or full right.

Learn something new every day. I did not know about resizing in the old format, let alone the new until flagged here. What a difference that little triangle will make to any  future long posts.  8)

I'll see if I can manage to make the textbox bigger than default. It exceeds the "styling" part but perhaps, with a bit of tinkering...

Btw, when writigng a longer post, use a program like word of notepad for easy editing but most of all; avoiding the risk of losing everything by pressing a wrong button. When done, paste it to a post

Not needed as the window sizing works good. What does not work good is the tiny area that toggles it on. There should be a bigger activation area that is set apart from the background so it sticks out and is noticed.

Many here have lost long posts. But you do that once or twice and you start to pay attention to the buttons or communications issues. But after a while you are pretty proficient. Knock on wood I have not had that kind of issue but once in 6 years. Point well taken to copy paste into an external editor. But with the way the resizing works it really helps make the site editor much better. That may help cut down on some errant issues.

Thanks for your reply and help!
