Used Yamaha Pacifica 112VCX a good deal?
« on: June 03, 2018, 03:29:55 pm »
After reading some on the forums I have looked for a used Pacifica 112 as my first electric (I have been using a really old accoustic for the last few weeks to do the beginners course).

What do you guys think about this one: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/anzeigen/s-detailansicht.html?adId=867856163

Comes with a leather guitar strap and a millenium guitar stand, I don't have any more info to go on than the pictures.

If you think it's a good deal, anything I should look for when picking it up?

In terms of the guitar - they have a very good reputation for a good reason.
The strap & stand are not to be factored in to the price.
Nothing more than little extras.
Hopefully a native speaker can read the description and add more help.

As far as the guitar goes, the description only says: "Offering a well-preserved, operational Yamaha Pacifica 112VCX BL Vint.  including strap and stand."

I could try to contact the seller and ask for more info, but I'm not sure what I should ask for exactly.

Ask for the age, whether it has been gigged, if the electrics all work cleanly with no crackles, if the frets are worn, if the neck is straight.

It looks a decent buy at that price.
Is it a 'Buy It Now' price?

You could offer a little less if they're prepared to discuss and negotiate.

Seller says the guitar is about 8 years old, but hasn't been used for the last 6 years, since he bought another guitar.

No crackling, frets and neck are fine. Bu he told me that the guitar jack is loose and might have to be changed and it needs new strings, which he offered to throw in.

From a quick google search jacks arent that pricey and changing it isn't too difficult? I think I will see if I can negiotiate him down a little based on the jack and buy it, unless I notice any other issues when checking it out.

Sounds good. You need to be able to solder Toby change the jack.
New strings is no big deal.
I always set up and restring any guitar I sell but that's not the General rul on eBay.
