Yamaha FG700 Broken Machine Head
« on: April 18, 2018, 07:10:00 pm »
Hi All,

Not been around for a while but still playing although it had to take a back seat for a few months as I got made redundant at the end of the year so job hunting was the priority!

All worked out well and I've been back into a great new job for the last month or so. On the plus side I got a nice big redundancy payment so now I'm back in work a nice new acoustic in the £1K mark is something I'll be looking for.

Now on to my problem! As you might have guessed the guitar fell off it stands and the key has broken off the machine head. It's not salvagable and I need a new one.

Yahama have not been helpful directing me to their parts company which just is unresponsive in this area. I've got the key off but wonder if anyone can recommend somewhere online to order in the uk?  I can't find one really with the screw fitting in the same position. Any suggestions before I trek into town to the guitar shop and see what they have? Image of the broken machine head is here https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kmIkStXm1sRFX8kjEJT0s82xQOEzNKBT

Axetec.co uk do replacement knobs but I would be inclined to replace the whole machine head.
( They do those too, make sure you get the correct screw hole alignment though).

Thanks for the reply Jono. The whole machine head needs replacing. I really don't want to replace the set so just looking for a replacement.I'll check out the site you suggested. Most machine heads seem to have the screw head offset whereas mine is pretty central

Northwest guitars have ones with the screw hole in the correct place but they seem to be for Les Paul type guitars with the 3 pegs on each side.

You can get Wilkinson tuners in the UK which are decent but only sold in 3s
