web-cam recommendations?
« on: March 12, 2018, 11:09:33 pm »
I have decent audio on my PC thanks to a proper mic and USB interface. But I don't have a web-cam so if I want to record video of myself playing, I resort to using my phone, balanced on a shelf.

I've never owned a webcam (they creep me out) so any recommendations on what to look for that will be decent but not crazy-expensive?

Also any tips on using the darn thing? I'm running a Mac - is built-in software going to be enough for splicing my audio (Garageband) and video to avoid sync issues?

How is your phone camera?

I use an iPhone 6 and nobody ever complained about video quality, neither when I still used my iPhone 4S.

I'd just keep using the phone and sync the audio to video in iMovie or FCP or whatever you're using on Mac.

I still work like that too.

In other words, I suggest keeping your money. ;)

In theory, good: OnePlus3 with [email protected] support. In practice, getting the videos off has proven tricky... No device I've tried recognised it :(

Logitech C920 is a pretty good web camera.

Cheers,

Do devices not recognize the format or the phone itself?

Can you change the camera settings? I reckon 1080p60 is enough for what you do with it. You could try uploading your files to Google Drive, WeTransfer or whatever and downloading the files on where you're editing them.
