Sore Knuckle
« on: January 04, 2018, 03:44:42 pm »
Has anyone else experienced a soreness in the knuckle of their index finger in their fretting hand ?  I am on stage 6 so most likely has to do with practicing the f chord.  I know the best thing to do is stop and rest it.  From what I have read online it takes 3 to 6 weeks to heal.  Has anyone else experienced this ?  How long did it take for yours to heal ?

What exactly do you mean by a sore knuckle? If you’re practicing the F chord then you’re using your index finger to bar all the strings. For the first time. If it’s the first knuckle (closest to the nail) then it’s possibly pressing against a string. Eventually, I developed a bit of a callus there.

Its the first knuckle closest to the hand. Most likely stress on the tendons from pressing down.  Doing some had exercises and stretching I found online for guitarist.  Hopefully by doing the exercises and stretching, once healed it wont repeat.
