Yes, I'm working for a company that restores harpsichords.  It's so much fun. I'm loving it. I'm learning a ton. Unfortunately, the man I'm replacing is leaving very soon, and I have to learn all his tricks of the trade in 4 more days. He's been doing it for 25 years. Luckily I do love a challenge. Haha.

Hi,

You'll do just fine Lynn.
You have a job that pleases you which is a bonus in its own right.
Good luck - not that you'll need it. Cream always rises. ;)

Kind regards,
Rufus

Thanks Rufus. I've been practicing lettering all weekend and feel slightly more confident, or less terrified.

Here's Keith's latest, a still life from the set of David Copperfield:

(Sorry Keith, I can't remember the exact title, but I love it).

With patience, practice and gentleness (with self) you will learn and master this, Lynn...I am confident.

Hi,

Like it a lot, Keith.
First thoughts when I saw it - Like how you have licensed from Picasso. Really impressed. Borrowed but not borrowed - and that makes as much sense as usual. Good job I know what I mean, huh. :P ;) ;D

Kind regards,
Rufus

Thanks David and Rufus. Hopefully when The Personal Life of David Copperfield is released we'll be able to spot my still life.

Yes Rufus Picasso and Braque were the inspiration, painting in that style is more difficult than it looks. I initially thought I'd failed miserably but it's starting to grow on me. Maybe more Juan Gris than Picasso.

Thanks again,

Keith

I'm going for the record. Yeah. Another self portrait. The little ham is Twiggy. She's as sweet as she is pretty. It was a joy to paint her.

Thanks for your last comment,on David. My new job is fantastic. I love it. I'm learning so much about painting. I'm not worried anymore. I can do it.

Hi,

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I looked at the painting before I read what you wrote in your post, Lynn, and the thing that first struck me was the eyes on the cat. Very contented, and then your expression - also of contentment, but it is much more than that.
At first, I saw contentment, but the more one looks at the painting it speaks so much more.
Relief.
Sadness.
A kind of look in your eyes that says - 'you can try but you wont beat me'.
Whatever the painting is supposed to say - it is another fine piece of work, and I especially like the way your parting has dropped from the body of hair over your left eye.

Kind regards,
Rufus

Great work Lynn.
I know the face is the crucial thing - and your expression is a peach.
But for me what makes this double wow is *that colour* cloth you're wearing.
Talk about vivid.

Thanks David. I know what I was thinking about, but I'm not gonna tell you. Haha.

Thanks Toby!

Rufus, twiggy was actually a little annoyed that I squeezed in next to her. Haha.

I'll say one thing about my eyes. They were finished, and then we lost our gas service for five days in a citywide outage. After five days of being bitterly cold, everyone started getting on my nerves. I redid the eyes at that point. I call that look the hairy eyeball. Haha.

I'm so glad you like that green, Richard. It is my own secret formula (yellow and blue. Haha). Luckily the color also worked for Twiggy's eyes, which are also vivid, looking at me now, wanting her dinner.

Thanks again everyone,
Lynn

LOL ... put a few wrinkles and puckers around the eyes between the eye brows and I can totally see a hairy eyeball  ;D

What an odd expression that is but one that is common in my neck of the woods as well ...

Hows the work artwork going?  Looking forward to the next pic of that.

Work is great. I'm learning so much. I still haven't done anything particularly artistic, but the work is physical and mental and I really like it. It's fun.

This is me today, with my first finished instrument.

I'm not sure the photo is coming through. Haha. Might be just as well.
