Vintage Washburn any good?
« on: December 13, 2017, 09:24:22 pm »
Hi all

Looking to buy my first acoustic. Seen a 'Vintage Washburn Model D 13 S' for £90 on gumtree/ebay. Looks like a good clean guitar - any advice would be welcome.

I have been playing for about 2 years with a cheap electric Yamaha ERG and intend to upgrade my electric to a 'squire strat standard' based on advice from the kind people on this forum, but just wanted an acoustic to play around with. I would probably update it in a couple of years once I know what I really want - as I am doing with the electric. Thanks

Oh that's very local for me!!

But fortunately I already have a Washburn (WD7) which I really like. Not sure how the D13 compares but Washburn seem to be good quality.
Started BC Sept 2016, currently on stage 8.
Acoustic: Yamaha F310, Washburn WD7, Freshman FA1AN
Electric: Yamaha ERG121, Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro

Thanks SDD56. Done a bit of research and it seems they were only built for a couple of years in the 90's as a level entry guitar. But a lot of forums say they were entry level price but had build and sound quality well beyond entry level so I might have to go for it I think. Thanks for your reply. I'm in Plymouth..
