Normally I'll come up with an interesting chord progression, record and sing as many sounds as I can.

Then I'll pick out the ab lib I like and redo it. Without words. Because adding words can be very hard.

How can I go about fitting words to a melody? And not just stupid words that you put zero thought into, but important ones.

There's about four years worth of poetry sitting in their hiding spot collecting dust. :P

"Ou baby, you go where you go you say you go and say yes and no"

These were the lyrics that came to me as I was mumbling out my tune.

I'd like for the lyrics to tell the story of being cheated and lied to.

It has a gorgeous flow and it sounds very nice and melodic with the guitar playing, but it doesn't make any sense.

Do lyrics need to make sense?

I think your lyrics make sense. But no, they absolutely don't have to. You're creating. You get to make the rules.
