Since I last posted I got my Vintage V6 strat and got the yearning to go off at a bit of a tangent and carry on trying to learn a piece that caused me to give up a while ago. I've been learning it for 6 weeks and getting it up to a standard I thought was OK, I'm still not 100% that all of my bends, trem work and volume swells were that good but overall I am reasonably happy; what do you think???
Oh and sorry for the abrupt cut off at the end, her indoors was a bit quick with the button and it was my best take of the day ;)

Couldn't play it direct ... had to download.
Sounds great.
That is why you need to learn to incorporate tremolo and volume swells on a start!!!
Neither of which I did when I had one.

Good job, Darrell. Nice mellow sound, too bad for the sudden ending but still well played, sir :D

Darrell, outstanding playing and really nice sound. A very enjoyable listen for sure - the kind of piece I can listen to multiple times and not get tired of.

Adore this Darrell.

Sublime rich sounds, laid back groove, interesting weaving and interplay of melodies and technical things (I know nothing about recording but can hear the non guitar things you've done). Makes me go all mushy inside. That's me, not your playing that's mushy  ;D

Thankyou this has made my day even better.

Many thanks for your outstanding replies :) I really do appreciate these comments.
It has taken me about 60 hours of practice to get there, I was lucky to have already have a CD backing track (from a 1990's guitar magazine) with the tab to help. What stopped me before was the trem and swell techniques plus the trem setup. I now have my trem floating, have a volume pedal and have actually been able to see (on the Tube) Hank's trem technique, this has been a major help.
I want to learn the John Williams  version on a Classical guitar (which I now have - the junk shop find!) however this is going to take a while ;)
I am still on the beginners course and am still a beginner on rhythm guitar and playing to time rather than ear, this has always been my problem!
@Batwoman - I just love your comments, they are so encouraging :)
I am going to have a go at 'Theme for young lovers' next - see how long that takes ;)

Very quick replay without critique. Sounded pretty good to me and I bet a challenge. On my to play list but a bit daunting for now.

Thanks Toby, I did have a bit of memory from years ago when I tried playing it so not a totally from scratch job. It really isn't too difficult, it just takes time to remember the phrasing and octaves on the basic theme.
I also used to play (badly) a few more so am going to try them again :)
