Oldhead,

As far as I understand,  the October entry is an improvisation played over one of two provided backing tracks, limited to no more than two minutes.

My intrepretation would be Oct is a 2 track recording, though I don't recall seeing a limit on number of tracks.  Constraint in the contests is usually not the number of tracks but the fact that the entry must be all your own performance. As many of your own tracks as you like. So no downloaded backing tracks but if I recall correctly sone debate about sampling...I think if you produced the sample it was deemed ok, not sure.

Maybe this one is intended to be just a single lead played over the backing, as opposed to say two leads over the backing doing a kind of call and response thing, which of course would both be played by you. Don't know for sure.

That said, I hope you enter as everything you have posted was fabulous and haven't heard a recording from you for a while. And true words, I was wondering how you are, what you up to this morning...you and davidvac  :)

@ oldhead

no multi-track in the improv ... just a single track improv over Justin's BT.

For our next episode... it's very wide ranging? Basically the same as the normal format but it must in some way be deemed fitting for the time of year?

So we could do a traditional carol, a cheesy pop christmas classic, an original song?
What about some kind of "christmassy cover" of a regular song?

Entries can be submitted from Saturday 18th November and the deadline is Sunday 10th December.

That is this coming weekend ... are you practicing and getting ready??

 :)

In November / December ...

Entries must be a festive / seasonal / Christmas song

The general competition rules still stand. The recording must be a solo performance although multi-track entries are fine.

NOTE:

The duration and dates are different.
Entries can be submitted from Saturday 18th November and the deadline is Sunday 10th December.

This is to contain it to a time period not so early that we moan and groan at the premature festive melodies (ha ha) and yet not too late that there is no time for listening, commenting, judging and awarding prizes etc before 25th December itself.

NOTE:

The prizes will be different too.

There will be no SKYPE lesson as prize. Instead, Justin will be sending some JustinGuitar Goodies and Vouchers ... hopefully in time to put in your Santa Sack!

Enjoy and good luck!

My £0.02 but having the rules/chit-chat in sub-forums in my experience is going to make them harder to spot than sticky threads - I would guess a bunch of your members are are not super-tech savvy with forums and as someone who has run forums, people are very blind. There's a claim "every additional click cuts down visitors by 50%" ;)

Anyway, looking forward to this one :)

Hi all ... whatever time zone you are in today (Sunday 10th is deadline day).

Our tree & decorations are now up and Mrs C is singing festive songs with her choir in a Santa parade this afternoon so I am gearing up to listening and getting in the spirit.

Ho ho ho.

 :)

Hi There,

The monthly email says that the December Holiday submission deadline is December 15th.
Yet, looking on here you posted the closing on the 10th.

Can I still post my Holiday song entry?

Hi there all.

This question was probably definitely already answered, but does the December competition entry have a time limit as well?
Also is the deadline for entries Dec 10th of the 15th?

Hello Taryn,  the date stated in this thread is the one we agreed to way back. I hadn't even spotted that Justin put 15th in the newsletter.
I have just gone and checked the newsletter and there it is.
So, I think in this instance, the deadline has to be flexed outwards.
I hope all other forum members are cool with that - I have been posting and telling everyone that 10th is the deadline and we did have some last day entries.
So - go for it Taryn - get that entry posted quickly as listening and judging is already in the early stages.
