Only if you include that section within your 2 mins.

Cheers,

@ Omar ???

@ Willsie

Tough = diffficult
or
Tough = duration?

If the latter then you do not have to start at the beginning of the backing track. You can edit the track to include only the section (sections) you want.

Section C is about 21 seconds ... if that is all you want to use then that's fine.

@close2u I meant I'm aiming at October's competition, the 12 bar blues. Sorry for the vague message

Both, for me  :)
I assumed we'd start at the beginning.
Don't know why, but I did, although there is that nice drum intro...which will be lost if Section C is included. Unless pruning is also acceptable?
Although I don't know how to do that, but I guess I could look into it.
I'll work on it.

Regards

I guess you could view it as a regular song structure where you would normally have lyrics around the solo part. Just pretend the singer does his/her job until you are up.
In this case you are lucky that you can decide without fighting with the rest of the band where and how long the solo you play.

@ Omar ... aha, got it  :)

re:

Editing the G Major track to be sub-2 minutes ...
If you select small sections of the track as it stands, in its current running order, you could have, for example ...

Time               Section
00:00              two-beat drum intro
00:02              A x2 intro (single strums)
00:25              A x4
01:06              B x4
01:51              A x4
Total = 1m51s

Time               Section
02:33              B x4
03:17              C x4
Total = 44s

Time               Section
03:17              C x4
03:58              B x4
04:43              B x1 outro
Total = 1m26s

etc etc etc

If you want to cut, dice & splice then you are going to need to use technology / software / editing tools that create clean transitions to suit you and your purposes ... many variations could be used that keep it below 2 minutes.

Hope that helps.

Another rule clarification request:

Does all recording and production have to be done entirely myself?

RE: October competition - 12 Bar Blues Lead guitar

Is it possible to edit the backing track to include track’s intro and outro?

What’s the min/max threshold of entry’s length, in case editing the track is acceptable?

Yes.
As for G Major track ...

... You can edit the track to include only the section (sections) you want.

In October ...

Entries must be no more than two minutes in duration.

To those who would like to improvise over 12-bar blues. Here is the backing track divided into sections, based on A chord and drum's accent.

Section 1: Intro - 36s 25ms
Section 2: 36s 25ms - 1m 10s 449ms
Section 3: 1m 10s 449ms - 1m 44s 722ms
Section 4: 1m 44s 722ms - 2m 18s 995ms
Section 5: 2m 18s 995ms - 2m 53s 221ms
Section 6: 2m 53s 221ms - 3m 27s 613ms
Section 7: 3m 27s 613ms - 4m 1s 959ms
Section 8: 4m 1s 959ms - 4m 36s 237ms
Section 9: 4m 36s 237ms - Outro

I hope this helps.

Is multi-track accepted for 12- bar?  I see it's ok for November and December
