Sad day, a great songwriter who never forgot his roots.

Aww RIP Tom, you will be missed. I love Tom's music, and his performance with the Traveling Wilburys was so good. Gone way too soon. RIP.

Canadian music has lost one of its greats. Gord Downie has passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

This is a tremendous loss to the music industry and us Canadians are taking this news particularly hard. I was fortunate to have seen The Tragically Hip twice, including their show in Ottawa on their farewell tour last year. This is an exceptionally sad day.

RIP Gord, you were a musical giant and true gentleman. Thanks for the many years of great music.

Hilts, I know what you mean. I saw them perform 20 years ago in St. John's. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried when I heard the news and listening to some of their music today on my Spotify playlist has been hard. He will be missed.

Good luck finding any non Tragically Hip music on radio stations in Canada right now. All they are playing is Hip music today. The flag on Parliament Hill will fly at half mast on the day of his funeral. We all knew this day was coming, but man, I'm just heart broken now.
