Hi, Im trying to work out target chord changes per minute to practice the chord changes for this song. In the Beginners Songbook 2 it says this song is 58bpm. When I listen to the track and the strumming I reckon there is a down beat at 3 times this speed about 174 bpm( something to do with it being 6/8 rhythm?).  So including the up strums, the strumming is going at about 348 strums per minute?Does that mean my chord changes have to be around this speed too...or am i way off here in the math? It would be nice to have a formula to calcuate target chord changes based on the song speed, rhythm and 8th or 16th note strumming. Many thanks for any help.

Watch the video a 2:20 Justin explains the beat and how to count it.

Start with 2 strums per bar like Justin explains in the video and go from there.
You over thinking this and making it harder than it has to be.
