IM-114 Having some problems with fingering
« on: August 08, 2016, 06:45:09 pm »
I broke my little finger when I was a kid and although I can use it to play a note I just can not keep it from sticking straight up.  The other three fingers are above the string ready to go but I can not get my pinkie to hover over the sting.  I can play both major and minor scales as well as all five forms of the minor pentatonic scale.  Will I still be able to play fast with my pinkie problem?  If not, is there some special finger exercises that I might have overlooked that will help to keep that finger from popping up?

Thanks;
Jim

I am assuming that if stop every thing while you pinky is standing at attention you can MAKE in go hover over the string - it is just like playing a note, but an 1/8th of an inch higher.

If so, it is a matter of playing the scales super ssssslllllooooowwwwwlllllyyyyy while focusing on keeping your pinky in-line.

Five minutes or so every day, for a long time and you will eventually gain some sort of dominion over your recalcitrant digit.
