Complete set ups
« on: March 21, 2016, 10:24:41 am »
I have a question on set ups. I just bought a Fender electric guitar and had a complete set up on it. It plays like butter now. Awesome.
Now when I change strings, do I have to go thru this process again?
Also, does this apply to acoustics?
I'm not hard on my guitars being a beginner. Thanks
Ms.Jackie

As long as you change the strings for ones the same gauge, no you shouldn't need a new setup.

Cheers,

Keith
Guitars: PRS Singlecut S2, Fender Tele Lite Ash, G&L Legacy Tribute, Freshman Apollo 2 OCBX
Amps: Bugera G5 Head, Boss Katana 100
All sorts of other stuff.

Yes but you won't get as dramatic results. On electric guitars you can make more adjustments
On acoustics you're stuck with lowering the action and slight neck adjustments. It will make a
big difference on most guitars.
For adjusting things like intonation you'll need extra work or even a new saddle and possibly a
new nut.

A good set up on an acoustic can make it play like butter.
