Oktava MK-012-01 -- Good price?
« on: November 16, 2015, 12:26:19 am »
I just picked up a used Oktava MK-012-01 for $100. I was a bit nervous about the purchase as I know there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this brand in the past. This mic had a couple red flags that made me think it might be one of the Chinese ones made a while back, but after looking it over I think I got one of the Russian ones. Some info on that here:

Not that the Russian vs. Chinese thing matters too much, and I still need to test it tonight to see if how it sounds. If it sounds good it is good, right?

But on to my question: Is $100 a good price for the mic, considering it didn't come with the -10db pad attachment? I doubt I would need it as I don't record drums and even my electric guitar recording is relatively quiet (can't crank a tube amp in my apartment).

What do you think? Good deal? I've got 24 hours to return it or possibly get a better price, although I already got it down from $125 so probably not much room to work there.
