It’s all about the fun. After the gig I had a burger with the other guitarist, and we talked about how this is our way of venting from everyday life. If we’re not having fun, why do it?

Having fun playing music others can enjoy. What’s not to like?
I'm with you Jesper.  People have often recommended meditative practices of various forms to me, as being good for personal well-being.  Guitar and singing has become my meditative practice ... venting, refreshing, energising, finding personal satisfaction through learning.  What can I say ... music is food for life for me.

Good to hear, de_conne. Playing life is a different beast indeed, and I love it.

Hardware changes.
For a while I have been a little bothered by my setup, having too many individual parts to setup during band rehearsals and gigs. Also, because we do not have our own practice room (we are using a room at the local music school) I have to carry my amp as well as two guitars and a dual guitar stand, and I really wanted to downsize the load.

My plan is to use the music school amps for rehearsals and only lug the Katana to gigs. So I decided to get a Roland GT-100 which is basically a Katana without the speakers. This multieffect board also inkludes a tuner and a volume pedal....nice! Plug into any amp and I have a full setup.

So this is what my gigging setup looks like these days (sans the guitars).

I have both an acoustic and an electric guitar plugged into the switch box. That box goes to the GT-100 which goes to the Katana.
I place the Katana in front of me tilted towards me like a wedge monitor and the line-out jack goes to the mixer.
That way the sound guy has total control of the house mix and I have awesome stage sound right in my face. The master volume only affects my monitor sound, not the line out.
Happy sound guy, happy me!

Next will probably be a wireless transmitter/receiver for one of the guitars.

While on vacation I had my Tele looked over and adjusted by a pro. Just picked it up today and played a 3 hour band rehearsal with it. Man, what a joy! And a revalation how much better a setup can be done when done by a pro!

Todays gig at Western Camp which is a campsite with a Wild West theme inkluding saloons, sheriffs office and much more. Fun place to be.
Our Country/Western/blues/rock band did fit right in and se had a great 3hour(!) gig.
I hope to upload video but I haven’t seen any yet.

Oh... and the semi hollow to the right is not mine, unfortunately.

Great news Jesper, sounds like the bands doing very well indeed. You must've compiled a good set list to play for 3 hours, well done.

Cheers

So glad you are going from strength to strength with you music and your band Jesper. Do I hear some symptoms of GAS in your comment mmmmm?

We do have quite a few songs now. A 3 hour gig is usually 3x 45 minutes and we play 11 songs in each set.

Playing with the band is great on so many levels. It is fun playing with others and it keeps me motivated and constantly pushing me forward in both technique and performance. And playing for people that enjoy our music is just plain awesome.

I must admit that a semi-hollow is quite beautiful and a few years ago I would have loved to have one. But I’m so happy for my Tele that I am sure such a purchase would sit in the corner not being played.

I can empathise with you there, a Telecaster is so versatile that it’s difficult to justify buying anything else; the only thing I wish it had is the ‘comfort curves’ the same as a Strat - I can’t bring myself to butcher mine to make it like that though 😂
My singing sucks so I’m learning Guitar and Ukulele, it’s fun 🌟

The Tele does it all, and with an attitude to match!
I have both a Tele and a Strat, but I do not find the Tele less comfortable to play. Could be because I always stand up when playing it.
