Cheers Dan.
My aim is kind of classic rock, punk and alternative. Nothing to heavy.
Fender describes them as full-throated pair of single-coil Modern Player MP-90 pickups.
Do P90's not work well with solid state amps?
The (BKP 'Pig90 and Blue Note 90) P90's worked fine for me on the Tech21 (analog, solid state modelling amp) and the Axe-FX II (digital modeller), it's all a matter of finding tonal balance.
It could be these particular P90's you have just won't do it for you, though.
Same as with any other type/make of pickup, sometimes other models just sound better.
I'd suggest messing with the amp models/settings some more first, then if that fails, exploring either a different guitar or new pickups.
