Pretty much where I'm coming from in the song... what good's a silver lining when you're homeless in the rain.

Friend of mine used to say "Every silver lining has its cloud"

The height of your happiness can only be measure by the depth of your sadness.
Into every life a little rain must fall.

Not really a quote, but a cool passage on Joy and Sorrow from the book The Prophet

Here's a few a could think of, and a few i googled (english isn't my first language :-) )

life is merely a sublime comedy staged for your amuzement
A winner is someone who talks themselves out of their excuses
The biggest gap in the world is between "I should and I did"
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue
Don't take life too seriously, you won't get out alive.
laughter is the best medicine
you learn from your mistakes
money isn't everything
Life is too short for us to dwell on sadness. cheer up and live life to the fullest.
Nothing is permanent in this wicked world, not even our troubles. – Charlie Chaplin
Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking
The biggest enemy of success is "fear of failure", so when fear knocks at your door, send courage to open the door and success will wait for you.
Life is like music. It has high notes and low notes. No matter how high or low your notes may be, keep in tune with yourself and you'll never go out of tune in the music of life.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything
Never look back unless you are planning to go that way
