Sayings people use to cheer you up
« on: May 02, 2015, 04:34:36 pm »
A song idea I've got is around 'helpful' things people say. Like:
- It could be worse
- It's darkest before dawn
- Worse things happen at sea
- Every cloud has a silver lining

Can anyone help me out with others that are well known, along the same lines?

Tanks for any suggestions :)

Shadows only mean there's light.

That's the only I could come up with off the top of my head. :p

Light at the end of the tunnel..... which is the train, but that's a different story.

Pretty much where I'm coming from in the song... what good's a silver lining when you're homeless in the rain.

Haha. That's awesome.

When someone says they wouldn't have done it better themselves. I'm sure you can make something out of that. ;)

Usually when my friends try to cheer me up they just say; "shut up and drink your beer."
I dream of a better tomorrow where chickens can cross roads without their motives being questioned.

Reminds me of another song idea I had...

A drink is more dependable than any friend it's clear.
Your friends will run out on you, they'll up and disappear.
But when your drink runs out on you just get another beer.

LOL John.. I like it!  :)

You're probably just looking for one-liners, but this quote from Chief Dan George's "Words to a Grandchild" fits the theme:

Heed the days

when the rain flows freely,

in their greyness

lies the seed of much thought.

The sky hangs low

and paints new colors

on the earth.

After the rain

the grass will shed its moisture,

the fog will lift from the trees,

a new light will brighten the sky

and play in the drops

that hang on all things.

Your heart will beat out

a new gladness,

-if you let it happen.
I dream of a better tomorrow where chickens can cross roads without their motives being questioned.
