Here's my first guitar, an Ibanez TCM50E Talman electroacoustic:

14/02/2015.
Just bought my first full electric guitar as a companion for the Talman.

It's a 'Cort Z42 Zenon' with two coil-tapped humbuckers and a 'string through body' design. I've read loads of reviews and most say what a great budget guitar it is. It looks stunning.

13/03/2015 recording after two months on the BC.

https://soundcloud.com/lunarscope/whats-up

I cut this about 1 minute 30 secs short 'cos it gets a bit monotonous without the singing.

On stage 3 of BC at the moment and haven't quite got changes between C and G fast enough yet.

New acquisition.

Squier Stratocaster 'Affinity', originally very scruffy with white scratchplate, pup covers and knobs. Someone had tried to paint these parts with what looked like red permanent marker. I took it all apart and cleaned it up, fitted new chrome scratchplate, pup covers, trem cover and chrome metal knobs then new D'Addario strings. Now just need to set up action  and intonation. Guitar cost £15 + about £35 in parts. Turned out quite well I think. :-)

That Cort Zenon looks a ripper! Nice work on the Strat too, for some reason I'm not a strat fan at all (from an aesthetic point, I'm no way skilled enough to comment from a musical point lol), but I really dig the look of that Cort.

I bought the strat just as a testbed for learning setups. Trouble is now I've got it looking so nice, I'll have to be careful that I don't mess it up. Maybe I should buy another cheapo wreck to use as my test axe.
The Cort does look really nice in the flesh. I particularly think it suits not having a scratchplate. I haven't really played it yet though as I'm still at the strumming stage.

27/04/2015: More recordings.
I'm now 3.5 months in and on Stage 4 BC so time for some more recordings.

I'm no too happy with the tempo as I seemed to be rushing to get them finished before I made a mistake (if that makes sense ?)

Firstly, "That's Alright" - my first tune with an alternating bass strum.

https://soundcloud.com/lunarscope/thats-alright-at-somewhere

Also, Brown Eyed Girl. I've been practising this for about six weeks and have tried about 59 times to record it without success. A bit of 'red button syndrome' caused a few problems with keeping a steady tempo (I was a bit tense during recording) but I'm reasonably happy because it's my first tune with an intro riff and 'pumping eights' chorus. This is one that I have committed to memory so also happy with that. I'm going to put this one to bed now and start on something new (will revisit it occasionally just to keep in memory).

Fender Mustang I v2 - purchased off eBay for £40 + £15 postage. I was the only bidder so well chuffed ! Haven't figured out how to get a nice tone out of it yet though; the presets all seem to be overloaded with effects.
Also just bought a Korg MA-1 metronome for £9 - just waiting for delivery.
Looking forward to the Korg as I could do with some help with triplets.

Install the Fender Fuse software, connect the Mustang to your pc and create your own presets or download from the Fender Mustang website. As you noticed the factory presets are crap.

My latest acquisition/creation. It took three months to make this crazy thing. Almost everything was handmade with basic tools, barring the gears and some connectors. It was prototyped in Meccano then recreated in brass. When the strumming arm is locked in position, for each turn of the crank it will play a down and upstrum. When the arm is swung (and locked) out of the way it can be played normally. The mechanism atop the arm counts the beats and also number of 4 beat bars played.
The arm can be detached easily and a cover plate attached to hide the hole where it was located. Also, the entire mechanism can be removed in one piece - this will allow me to insert different mechanisms in the future. I'm currently prototyping another two mechanisms and have a few more ideas for others.

Beaten copper bezel and scratch plate.

Strumming arm in 'standard' play mode.

Close-up of strumming arm in standard play mode.

Strumming arm in mechanical play mode.

Padded leather back and handmade brass coverplates.

Strumming arm - detachable.

Clock keys on the tuners.

Strumming arm interior from front.

Close-up of main mechanism.

Beat/bar counter - detaches from arm.

You can reset the Mustang back to factory settings :)
Can also choose one of the presets to make a'clean tone'

Thanks Suzi, I've figured that out by now. The main thing is there is no clear indication of the current settings without connecting up to a computer. I've not spent much time with the amp as I play my acoustic most of the time.

"Crazy" seems to be about right.
It's the first time I have built anything mechanical so I'm well pleased with the result.
I must have spent several hundred hours on it.
Time to get back to Stage 8 of the BC methinks.

Hmm, but I will need a suitably mad amp to go with it...
