Hey guys,
Is there anyone out there trying this song out. This is my first finger picking song. It's going pretty slowly but I'm getting there. Not sure that I'm copying Justin faithfully but it's sounding OK so ............ If it sounds good it is good perhaps. A really beautiful song to play, having lots of fun with it, it's starting to take over my life as I'm humming it all day every day. Anyone else got any comments on this one.

I've been trying to learn this one recently.  The part I find hard is getting the clicks sounding good and consistent. I've only got the first 4 bars down but it's a fun one to play. Justins's lesson for "fast car" is a good finger picking song too, that's the first one I learned.

I have a question about the "clicking" sound.. how hard do you slap down on the strings to get the desired sound as Justin does in the video? Is the sound coming mostly from the fingers hitting the strings or the strings hitting the frets?

The click comes from the strings hitting the frets.  See ~4:33 in the video.

Thanks! I thought so, just wanted to make sure. This may be a stupid question.. but can you hit the strings too hard? I'm a beginner and haven't really got into any percussion aspects of my guitar and don't want to damage anything by getting too much into the song..  :-[

If you tried to break something you probably could, but it would be hard.

So yeah, you CAN hit the strings too hard but I don't think you'll do it accidentally.

Think tapping out a beat on your thigh, or a table.

It comes from the wrist, not from the shoulder.

I found moving your finger picking hand over the sound hole and even further forward toward the neck, its possible to find a sweet spot where the percussive "click" is easier to obtain. Too far towards the bridge and the"click" is not as clear.
Experiment moving your hand toward the neck should help without having to strike the strings too hard. Although my nails have worn away much faster whilst learning "More than words"

Hi.. Merry Christmas everyone! I wanted to ask.. The hit is on what beats?  I don't know how to count this rhythm.
