Length of subtitles
« on: September 30, 2014, 08:13:08 pm »
Hi everyone!

I've started my first translation, and it seems difficult to translate accurately in french and still fit the suggested length of the subtitles. Is it ok to sort of resume what Justin say, or skip some unimportant words, in order to fit the length? Or will the subtitles still be accepted if it is slightly too long?

And I just have 2 other precise questions: for "fingering", do you have a preferred translation, or do you, as I did for now, translate as you see fit with different words?
And secondly, for the fingers' name to you stick to the french names of the fingers, or switch (after explaining which is what) to 1st, 2nd, 3rd... Cause it's taking a lot of space to write, say, "annulaire" instead of 3rd, and it does seem more logic to use the numbers... Any ideas?
