I was wondering if someone could help me with the finger placement for highway to hell. Just the opening riff bit please. There is a copy of the riff below.

I'm okay with the A chord bit in bar one but when it goes to the second bar I'm using my thumb to play the F# and G on the low E string, whilst trying to mute the A string, my little finger to play D on the B string and my middle finger to play A on the G string and I'm struggling with using my thumb. Is there a better way to arrange my fingers, so that I could be using one of my fingers to play the notes on the lower E?

Thanks. :)

Sorry peeps, another question.

Please could someone let me know how I know which pickups to choose when playing this? I've watched Justin's video and he just has the one, double pickup. I've also downloaded the Highway to hell patch for the amp. Let's rock!  ;D

And typically Humbucker pickups, I think

Ahhhh, that's a, no can do, for me David. Just what came on my guitar. Hopefully Angus won't mind too much.

LOL, I'm sure he won't, Stefan.  I only mention it as it may play a part of getting the tone you are wanting. With the patch loaded it still might not sound like you are expecting/wanting due to the pickup type. Equally that may make negligible difference. I'm not into the whole quest for tones to match originals.

@David, I'm not going for exact tone but I find it kind of helps my playing if it does sound something like what I am trying to copy.

@Richard, I got the G&L ASAT Tribute in butterscotch blonde, so it's just the pickups that came attached. Still loving the guitar and I find it a lot easier to play than my acoustic, although I need to increase my tunes on it as the acoustic ones I've learned just don't sound right on there.

Thanks Richard, that is good to hear. If you hear someone killing Highway to hell, tonight, then it's me. I'll have cranked it up to 11.  ;D
