Just found this app and put it on my ipad 2.  Is this app supposed to be counting the chord changes automatically?  Mine is doing the countdown but nothing is appearing in the score box.  Am I doing something incorrectly?

As an update I checked mic settings and it doesn't say that this app is calling for mic support.

Also, what is the slider on the bottom of the app represent?

Thanks

Hi av8

I too do not know what the slider does but as for the count, it isn't automatic you count
your chord changes and once finished the minute you put your result in manually with the +/- buttons
and then hit save/next it will store your results so that next time you know how many you are aiming to beat

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thanks, I was sure hoping it did the count for me.  Now that would be an app, guess it wouldn't be free then though.   Lol

Also, as far as I can tell, you only really need to do this if your beat your previous high score. It only saves one scare per change combination, so if you don't beat that score then there's no reason to enter a new lower one. This saves a lot of time, so I'm not hitting the plus button 55 times when the previous score is 58.

Just had a look at the app, the slider seems to adjust the volume of the beeps for the count in.

I sometimes hit Pause once I've hit Save-Next so that I have a moment to take in the next combo that pops up.

But -- I've noticed that after a while the Pause button disappears. No big deal, but I wonder why that is.

I like the app a lot. Really helps.

I just intstalled this app on my iPhone and iPad. When I hit the Save/Next I get a horrible squalling sound and the app locks up.  I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it with the same results on both devices. Any suggestions?  This app is a really good idea.

Will look into the bugs and chat with dev guy about getting it to recognize the chord count! J

Not sure if I am missing something but I just downloaded the app and can't get it to work.
I've added D, A & E chords. When I select 'Problem Chords' from the 'Start Training' menu, I just get the message 'No scores or chords not added.
I'm using an iPad Air on iOS 7.

To TiggerinMK
Try choosing random chords instead. I think problem chords only works once you have entered some scores. It then selectes the chord pairs with the lower scores.

Does the app base it's count on each change or a set?  Is G-C-G-C 2 changes or 4 changes?  I've been looking at it as 4 changes so I'm all happy that I hit the magic 60 number but do I have to go twice as fast to really hit 60?

I have a problem with the app.
It doesn't save the chord changes anymore.

Hello everyone,

First of all - Thank you Justin for investing your time and creating an app for the guitar community.

I have installed this app some time ago with an intention to replace weekly paper version from Justin's book. With the later I was actually quite happy - I only wanted to have the timer and the info all in one  :)
The fact that the timer has 5 "prepare" seconds (or 3, don't remember anymore)  was really cool - much better than Iphone timer.

In general I have expected that the software will actually save the consequent results of the same chord pair in order to see the progress (like the paper version - M, T, W, etc.), to my surprise in the result page there was only one number present for each chord change, which didn't give me any feedback - was I getting better? how fast was I getting better? As I have read in other comments the app is supposed to save the highest count and then I guess with the reach of 60 changes the chord pair was marked as "learned". For me it was not enough - like that i couldn't see how fast i was progressing.

Another strange thing was that random chords were actually not random at all - from 10 or more chord combinations, the software used to pop up the same combination 5 times in a row.. thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but the app is straight forward and there are no possibilities to do something differently.

Functionality that I was missing was the ability to chose chord pairs "of the day". The training plan suggests to spend 5 minutes for chord changes, but my problem was that  sometimes it took 5-10 minutes till some particular chord combination popped up at least once - I guess its the same randomness problem. I would propose to add the function where one could chose 5 chord pairs which would simply go in a sequence.

By paper version I meant the "practice schedule" in the end of every stage in the Beginner's book. You can find practice schedule PDF file for every stage inside of the CD2, which you get with the book.

I guess you need to strum and hear the correct tone of the chord. In my opinion, it's both, ears and fingers training method. I always do strum-pick-strum to make sure that my fingers are positioned properly on strings to avoid buzz.

You really didn't need a special app for this. You can use your mobile device's timer or any other alarm. The app doesn't count your changes, you have to count them yourself. Write down your daily result in a sheet and compare the results to assess your progress. :)

I can build a web-based one minute changes that works on any browser despite the platform. However, to save progress, it requires a hosting server with backend database platform. For the time being, I can use local storage, which means, progress is saved on local machine and can't be accessed from a different machine.
