Acoustic bass or regular?
« on: April 30, 2013, 06:54:47 pm »
How are the acoustic bass compared to a regular bass? As in sound manly, I don't think I have heard an acoustic bass before. I have been looking into bass and the acoustic one are popping up and I was wondering about them. I have never played bass before, I am learning acoustic right now, and I am not getting bass right now I am just researching at the moment.

Good question.  I wish I could help but I've never played an acoustic bass.  The most common question I hear is for electric basses, whether to get active or passive pickups.  I prefer passives.

I'm not a bass expert but I guess it depends on the type of music you wanna play ? Even though the difference between acoustic and electric bass seems less important than for guitars...

Stitch : thanks for the links. The video with the upright bass is awesome !

Here's an acoustic Bass : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI1-RfUqZis

As for which one to get, depends on the music.
Electric Bass (of sorts) would be best for most applications, with the old fashioned upright Bass a close second, and acoustic bass third.
