I've been doing the BC course since last Fall and having a blast. Currently on stage 6, trying to conquer the cursed F chord. :) I bought the songbook last year but since I frequently go back and review stuff in previous stages of BC I thought, heck, I really should just buy the BC and give Justin a bit more support for all the hard work he's put into this website. I also ordered the Strumming Techniques DVD.

Now, I only ordered all this stuff on July 6th and today is July 9th. How is it possible to receive this in Canada only 3 days after ordering???? WOW!!! Your service is unbelievable! So for that I thank you!!! I also thank you again for your website, your awesome lessons and your top quality products. Without you I really doubt I would be where I am today.

I'd been using the Yousician App to learn with, but felt it wasn't thorough enough. To be honest, it's more like a video game than anything else. Then I found Justin on Youtube, and started his course. Last week I got the course book. Initially I wanted it just to support Justin, because let's face it - all this for free - pretty amazing, right?

But, now I have the book I couldn't live without it. It's the extra little things in there like the Practice planners. They really help. The book pages are big too, which is an added bonus. It's nice to sit with as a reference guide. Which for me, is better than my ipad which times out and turns off after a minute.

I'm so impressed with it that I've also bought the beginners song book. Next on my list is the strumming DVD.

Could you live without this book and complete the course? Sure. Should you? Probably not. it WILL help you learn, but it will also fund Justin and his work. Get your hand in your pocket and buy it. :)

What are the differences between the Songbook and Coursebook?

Is the Coursebook already online and the Songbook then useful to learn the strumming patterns?

Thanks

The course book teaches how to play, chords, strumming, etc.

The song books has songs in it that use what you have learned in the course.

The beginners course and song book align by stages, so what you learn in the course aligns with the songbook.

There are videos for the lessons in the course book and the songs in the song book on the site and youtube.

From what I've read, Mr. Dylan apparently decided several years ago he didn't want unauthorized videos of his songs on the Web. (Legal stuff, you know.)
  But take a look here:

Glad to have been of some help.
I think "Knockin'" is a great song for beginners, even if it does kinda spoil my joke about only knowing three chords.  I could claim it's just 3½ chords, because Am is the relative minor of C. (And that right there is about as much as I know about music theory.)  ;D
It's beyond the topic of this thread, but I have a text file kicking around with some information about playing "Knockin'" with a capo. That might come in handy sometime if you had one or two other people to jam with. Can I send you a PM?

I recently got the book initially to learn the very basics before taking lessons. Hovever the book is so informative with great instruction on every detail i am now wondering if i should go ahead with one to one lessons. Is the book intended for self teaching only or can there be additional benefit gained from lessons with a teacher along with the book?

 8) 8)

Ordered the book after I stated Stage 1. I ordered the Beginners Package - it's great. Well worth it. I have   a couple of songs from stage 1 playing well enough (for a starter); just starting work on stage 2 (Am etc).

Really enjoying this.  ;D ;D

Thanks Justin and Jed.

Cheers

Hello there. Firstly, thanks for all that you do its really appreciated.  I've recently come back to guitar after a few years off due to family, work etc and your lessons have worked wonders, thanks.
I've bought all your books and was wondering if you plan to upload all lessons to YouTube? There are a few in the books that I can't find your videos for, either on your website or on YouTube.  As your posting new videos all the time but none of the recent ones seem to be in the books, so I was just wondering if there will ever be videos to go with the tabs in the books.
Hoping this doesn't come across as a moan, just querying.
Cheers

I would highly advise anyone starting to learn to buy the Beginners Pack.  I just turned 63 and thought I might give it a try.  better than those Soduko puzzles --ha!ha!   I know Im going at a very slow pace, but thats ok  I practice while Im out on the road in my sleeper cab of my truck.  Being able to watch the videos is a must for me as I dont have Internet connections most of the time.  the books are top quality, I was really impressed on how well made they are.  The song book is really cool and easy to follow.  Thanks Justin for doing what you do.  Im looking forward to meeting another mystery guest. lol  Mr. Metronome was funny, thought Jeff Beck was there :o     Randy

I want to start from the beginning with the transcribing.
I never did that when I started this course.  I am now at the Intermediate Method.
Anyway I lost the audio CDs from the Beginners Guitar Course.
Is there a way I can download the CDs?

Hi,
I just received Justin's Beginner's Course book. One thing is for sure, it's the best guitar beginner's book I've ever looked in.
Lots of info, tips, exercises, training schedules and so on. I highly recommend this book even if you want to follow the course online. The book is a really good supplement.
Can not wait until I receive my next order.

Thank you for your great work, Justin!
