Song writing contests - Your opinion?

Maybe this should be a separate thread but what's your take on songwriting contests like John Lennon and all the other interrnet contest sites?  Are any worth it?  Which ones?  How do you know?

I've never entered one. The one's that have prizes that might interest me tend to be US entry only.

They're a useful exercise in terms of developing and applying craft I suppose. There are various internet fora where you can get the same sort of feedback on a more regular basis though.
