Recently been listening to alot of Roy Orbison.  I always liked his music and of course his vocals were great. Some of his stuff was actually kind of Rock a Billy, I guess you would call it.

'Last Matador of Bayonne' , by Joe Bonamassa; from his excellent album: 'Dust Bowl'.

........... I can't get that track out of my head lately. The guitar work, from the very first strains of the gentle intro, picks you up and carries you, right through to the end.

I can't remember when there was an artist who was so prolific and yet so consistently original as Bonamassa has been over the last few years. Can't wait to see him in March.

Edit: After just reading a great little piece on how that track came about, mention must be made of the trumpet work by Tony Cedras. Talk about giving a track atmosphere.

Sabaton - Cliffs of Gallipoli
I'm trying to write the solo down. Really cool song that includes parts that sound like classical music :).

Meh, Sabaton needs to stop using Line 6 and get some decent amps.

Just heard this on the radio ... don't know anything about the singer or her band ... just got in to the whole rock-reggae-soul vibe

Alice Russell - Seven Nation Army

By the FSM's noodly appendages, what the hell did they do to that poor song ?
They butchered Seven Nation Army into some reggae wannabe funk xx--xx...

I was sat in the car, dark night descending, heavy rain falling and on it came ... seemed to fit the moment and I was grooving behind the wheel

Ok, how's this for something most of you wouldn't expect from me : i've been listening to the audio from the 25th anniversary performance of Andrew Loydd Webber's Phantom of The Opera in the Royal Albert Hall.
Incredible performance, especially 'Think of Me' as performed by Sierra Boggess and 'Music of the Night' as performed by Ramin Karimloo.

Been giving the Foo's Wasting Light a pasting since seeing them in Nov. Also burned a swag of my faves for the car, so lots on rotation there.

Since hitting guitar practise, I've been listening to more guitar men, stuff I've had on the CD shelf a while - SRV, Gary Moore, Clapton, JJ Cale, The Quo...
