Performance Poetry.

Kate Tempest with a performance that brought tears to my eyes, a lump to my throat and a marvel in my thoughts.

Just wow.

Quite an artist.

I've been having a Bowie fest, Mick Ronson era mainly with Scary Monsters and BlackStar thrown in.
Blackstar its the first time I've played it all the way through since his death, never played Made in Heaven either.. 28 years for Freddy
Guitars:  Squier classic vibe Stratocaster; Fender look alike Jazz bass from a kit, Cigarbox 3 string, Uke, Mandolin and the devil loves a tryer!

I got an email telling me that Elvis Costello is touring next year.  I've always been a massive fan, and very tempted to shell out the £57.00 for a ticket.  However back on topic, I've downloaded his latest EP 'Purse' to listen to on the drive home

Ariel Posen, who I know Justin has collaborated with. Listening to his album, How Long, on Spotify and loving it.
I see he's appearing in London on Feb 1st, 2020. Standing tickets £15. A bargain, particularly as I'll be at the London Stadium earlier in the day watching the 'ammers. Probably on their way to relegation :(

I've been listening to a lot of Baroque-era classical music, lately. And music performed on older instruments (not necessarily classical).
Then you might enjoy the Dragon Lady playing the Guzheng. It has a 2,500 year history. She's amazing.
Oh, and if you want, you can jam along using C# minor pentatonic.

That's really cool. When I was in my late teens my family lived in Japan for several years and my mom took lessons on koto (very similar instrument). She had a koto (and the traditional fingerpicks used by her particular school) which I believe is still at my parents' house. I should ask my dad if I can have it.

Hot Chocolate!

Noticed one of their former their lead singers, Greg Bannis, is appearing at the White Swan, St Albans, Herts, a mile or so from where i live!
If it had been Errol Brown I would have gone but I don't know this later singer.

Still, it was good to listen to a few of the early tracks.

A man of discerning taste, Darrell ;)
These girls gave me a lot of (innocent) pleasure over the years- well worth checking out  :)

They are indeed twins called Mona & Lisa.
It's a modern day Austrian 'von Trapp' family (The Sound of Music)
After a year in Ireland they relocated to Liverpool to soak themselves in the Beatles heritage.
I was one of about 6 people at their inaugural gig.
They payed their dues with weekly live sets in the famous Cavern for a couple of years for 50 Pence cover charge, before moving on to play with the likes of Steve Harley and Albert Lee amongst others.

Here's a pic of 3 generations of Larsen's at one of their Cavern gigs  :)

And an example of one of their original songs done in the style of the fab four  :)
