Been going through a stale patch and my mojos gone way down south. Sought of wandered across the plateau and then stepped off on a nose dive. Can't seem to get in the groove at the moment. Practice, progress, projects all out the window and need to get my $%)$ together is a challenge.

Practice seems a real pain in the "that ain't the way to have fun" that drew me back to this oldie.

Folks here of a certain generation will appreciate.
Hey it might inspire some Newbies.

Me ? Just need to find some "fun" as the Brexit sh%ite and uncertainty of a Brit In France is taking the toll. That's why I can't focus at the moment as politics slur these uncertain times. Life is sh$te right now.

Anyway enjoy some retro 70s classics. Its my central sanity in a world gone mad.

Rock on brothers and sisters.

Cheers

Toby

Been listening to The White Buffalo. Great storyteller and an incredible voice.
Recommended songs:
Ballad of a dead man, The woods and Carnage.

This folk of a "certain generation" certainly does. Good to be reminded of an old favourite.

I feel your pain, what an unholy mess!

I suppose we all live at the mercy of politicians and their politics to a greater or lesser degree.  I shan't get started on some of the trials and tribulations of life in South Africa.

But when life does get me down, then I found comfort in the practice, playing and recording ... but it always takes a determined effort to pick up the guitar when the energy and enthusiasm is low, FUD is high (fear-uncertainty-doubt).

Wish you well Toby, hope it all pans out OK in the end.  Meanwhile, go on, play some guitar ...

I'll take personal freedom and liberty, and that's the only way we ever get it.

So "listening" to the comments following my post and keeping the politics aside, I picked up and played a few songs last night. Very flaky, rusty and my timing sucked but it was recognisable.

With all that's going on, I realised its mainly effecting my efforts to concentrate on a structured practice and development program, and finish of a project that well past its sell by date. So for the next few weeks at least I am just going to play songs, nothing new, just go over anything and everything I've learnt so far.

Hopefully that will get the old mojo following again.

Cheers peeps.

Recently found this on YouTube, love the guitar tone.
I've tried to play the intro but it doesn't quite sound right. It's in drop D, and as far as I can tell it's straight 8th note picking, bass on the beat and notes on the &, but with an extra note on the 'a' after 1 (1 e & a).
Can anyone with a better ear confirm this please?

This was uploaded to Youtube on September 18th. It will bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart. Featuring Robbie Robertson, Ringo Starr and a host of others from around the world. Enjoy this special video of The Band's classic song, 'The Weight.' I love how music can bring people together.
