So... what are you currently listening to ?
« on: September 14, 2011, 05:33:33 pm »
Before i start this thread, a request to all users posting here : no more than 3 posts per user per day in this thread, please.
This shouldn't become a post count padding thread !!, i'm making this as a means to see what everyone else listens to throughout the day.

I'm currently listening to a song some of our Belgian members might know : Kris De Bruyne - Vilvoorde City

Rum, Sodomy and the Lash.

It's been far too long (this  bit is a sentiment and not something I'm listening to).

I'm currently listening to a song some of our Belgian members might know : Kris De Bruyne - Vilvoorde City

that "city" is practicly my back yard :p
"Amsterdam" by the same guy is never skipped. I always use the 4 opening lines when somebody asks about Amsterdam and what to do there etc... and only a few get it :p

I have my little ipod shuffle for work always nearby and I really dig the live version of "since I've been loving you" by led zeppelin these days. I just came back from a business meeting with a client and cursed loud as the radiostation didn't play the solo from "hotel california"

Oh, so you're one of those people responsible for all the political trouble in the Belgian formation talks ?  ;D
Jokes aside, my dad used to play 'Amsterdam' a lot when i was a kid, never really liked it until i got older and came to understand it better.

Learning the song, came across this version.  Patti Smith breaks my heart she is so xx--xx beautiful.  And there's that word "authentic".

"I held you in my arms.  You were so young and small in my arms.  And I imagined you racing through a bright green field.   I imagined you walking from star to star.  I could feel you swimming in the bluest sea.  I wanted you to be running instead of me"

Neil Young.  Helpless.  With Patti Smith and guests.

Yeah, I wonder what show that was. I see Bowie's entire band was there. I don;t recognize that other little group around the other mic.

I went on a Neil Young YT binge last night myself.

I've been really liking this lately...

Listening to Doc & Merle Watson's "Pickin' the Blues" (1985) - I've never been big on blues but this is really nice.

What else I've listened to today?
Well..:
Antoine Dufour (Sound Pictures - 2011)
Chet Atkins & Doc Watson (Reflections - 1980)
The Drills (We Bring The Rock 'N' Roll - 2011)
Evans Blue (Evans Blue - 2009)
Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin I - 1969)
Ricky Skaggs (Country Boy - 1984)
Tommy Emmanuel & The Australian Philharmonic Orchestra (Classical Gas - 1995 & seeing Tommy on the 19th this month!)
Tony Rice (Cold On The Shoulder - 1984)

And I listen to a lot of Brad Paisley these days, but not as much as my girlfriend does now. :P

Somewhat of an eclectic 'playlist'. ;D
There have been a few loose songs here and there though (like Funk #49, American Woman, Lola, etc. because I think they're fun)
Guitar, banjo, mandolin and piano, bass and percussion only when needed
Production and mixing

a lot actually (if you are doing a 2h17m run, you hear a lot of songs music :) )

Thanks to TB-AV, I'm quite into Roy Buchanan lately but also The doors do great on my iPod because of the long songs.
For keeping the tempo Prodigy and Orbital still do the trick!

besides all that, I could listen to "Since I've been loving you" by LedZep all day ("the song remains the same" version)

I went out to buy Florence + The Machine's new album "Ceremonials"  yesterday, but it was sold out! :(
Anyway I've been listening to "Lungs" while the store recovers from the shock of actually selling something! :o

Boris Bulkin!!  He has 4 YT vids.  He's Russian but sings in English.  He plays a Gibson SG standard and does it much justice.  He has that raunchy blues vocal voice.  His playing is just so motivating.  I listen to him right before I practice!  It gets the juices flowing!
