Uploading Photos, Images & Avatars
« on: July 29, 2011, 04:01:52 am »
I've been trying to upload an avatar, but I keep getting errors. I tried linking straight to my facebook profile, but all that showed up was a broken image box. After that I tried to upload a picture to an image hosting website, and use that. If I use the "direct link" it says it's either too big, or it's not an avatar. I downsized it, and got the same response. I tried the regular link to the page, and got the broken image box again.

Hi JB
no avatar can exceed 80 by 80
you need to resize it down to that

Hi all

I downloaded a BB King gif and made sure it was 80x80
As above I got the error message that it could be too large or not an avatar

It was 80x80 and downloaded from an avatar site but it was a moving gif
I have tried using normal photos but get exactly the same error message

Help would be appreciated as I would like to put an avatar up

I will keep playing with it

Thanks

I want to add a photo to a post, but how do I do it?
When I click on the little button up there, I get "img' and "/img" written in square brackets.  What do I do with that?

You can use a website like photobucket.com to upload your photo (it's free) and then either post a link to the phote or use the IMG-tags to embed the photo directly into your post. If I remember correctly, photobucket actually gives the code to embed the photo in forum posts.

it's a funny pic that I've got stored on my pc.  It's only a couple of kilobytes.  How do I use the "img" commande thingys?

By putting the URL (web address) of your image between the two img-tags
Code: [Select]

In the forum help you can find a description of further options for this tag, but the above will do for starters.

Which doesn't help Fatbloke if the image is on his PC. Is there a way to upload an image to this forum? Ofther forums (fora? fori?) I use have an 'upload image' option which doesn't seem to be available here.

Please read my original reply.

And: yes, they do. This one doesn't.
