T-
Sounds very good, though I ran into your NY Harvest song and wow you do Young really well, as you sound like him.  ;)

These are really nice so I am looking forward to Walk the Line.... I never thought to do J. Cash. Hey if you are on this kind of bent how about the Gambler by Kenny Rodgers? Your voice might be really good with it, or more like maybe you were made to do it? I would like to get this one down someday. Funny I have to go to London to hear tunes by Cash!

Good to see the face behind the name and take care!

Hey Tourny!! is that you bro? Fantastic man I so envy those that can mesh voice and notes together. I sing very well and play well but just can not seem to mesh the 2 together. It so drives me nuts lol. Again great tune and great job!!!

Hey if you are on this kind of bent how about the Gambler by Kenny Rodgers?

The gambler, coward of the county, Lucille, islands in the stream.... all old favorites.
Might need to work on mixing vocal fry if i'm going to visit so much country material.... that or get a cold :D

Just remembered that cash has covered Wichita lineman so that can go on the list

@wizzard: seem to recall from one of the Ustreams that Justin wanted to try and do a lesson on singing and playing.

@Irish: cheers, kept putting it off with a variety of excuses. Hadn't heard Hurt before Justins lesson, guess that was the catalyst.

Glad y'all like em ;)

Ah Tourniquet,
But to me The Gambler is a classic. Do you know if it is hanging around the net anywhere with a vid on how to play it? At this point I need all the help I can get. Or maybe it is time to challenge myself and go after trascribing it. But if I recall there is more there than just an acoustic guitar to pull off. Guess I will utube it and see...

You're in luck, It's in Justins Beginner songbook stage 1 (Which likely means a tutorial vid will follow at some point)

I think the song is pretty easy as I look at it. It may well be useing DGA and that is about it.  I will have to get the sequence and strumming down and for me that is no small feat. I may just pick up the songbook!

Thanks,

Good stuff Tourniquet
those songs give you some great opportunities to show off your 'resonance'
strong and steady on the guitar

Your Ovation is similar to mine. Sounds just as thin too, lol.
Good recordings though, tourni. You've definitely got the playing down and your vocals are really good to listen to. But could've been louder. They're drowned out a bit by the guitar.

The drawback of a single mic setup, can't balance levels in post. I'll go back to two mic  ;).
